ESPN reported Philly just signed Jabar Gaffney, late of the Texans, to a one-year deal. He's 25 years old, quick, not a bad fit for them.
I dont think the eagles will be in last place. They still have a solid team. Also they were good for years without TO
But you can't replace TO just like that, especially not with Gaffney. TO is still one of the best WR. I thought that Philly might go for Chad Jackson in the draft.
In an NFC East that has 3 playoff-caliber teams that are all building and then the Eagles, they could finish last. The Eagles might be in a situation where if they don't think they can compete in the best division in they game they should rebuild. Gaffney is a good pickup as a #2 or 3 guy but this is no replacement for Terrell Owens.
They probably still will... they could build a solid young receiving core with Gaffney, Brown, and Jackson/Holmes.
Well they sure as hell don't have a free ride in that division any more. ALl three of the other NFC East teams used to suck somthing real bad. Let's see how well they do now. God I hate that team........ :eaglessuck:
Im going to agree with you on this one- i dont think they can compete with Washintgton or the giants, and ill go mout on a limb and say dallas will be better.:eaglessuck:
Don't be supprised if Jerry porter ends up with Eagles.(rumors are he about to be traded to unkown team)
Your WR core got too tight? What are you expecting in return? Maybe the 49ers would also be a good spot for him...
Raiders have alot depth at WR and can afford to get rid of a WR. J Morant ready to play. I don't know what the Raiders are going to get, but this is the best time to move a WR. First the WR class in FA pool and the draft is not that impressive. Alot Of teams could use a WR(Eagles, Atlanta, 49ers , Broncos-doubt raiders trade him there, Saints- better fit with brees than WRs they have.
Something was posted on the board a few nights ago saying the Jets were one of the rumored teams if Porter was traded. I think Porter would be a very good pickup for us, unless of course it costs an arm and a leg.
I like Gaffney especially for the contract they got him for. I like their receivers as #2/3 guys, but there isn't a true #1 there. The one thing in Philly's favor is that with Westbrook and L.J. Smith, you can't cover everyone.
There isn't, however I'll admit that I am more a fan of the "strentgh in numbers" theory than having to rely solely on 1 player. With the receiving skills of Westbrook and Smith, the Eagles are well equipped to play that kind of offense. Those 2 will create some major matchup issues for opponents.
