Mortensen just said there won't be a deal unless there is some miracle that comes out of nowhere.

So there is no way of avoiding an uncapped 07?

No, they will not have a deal for free agency. They have a while until they have to go uncapped.

Oh, then it is really not that big of a deal. I really just don't want an uncapped 07, so as long as they have all the time in the world to fix that. It would be nice to have the extra cap room but :shit:

I wonder how this will affect Chad's deal. Incentives will hit this years cap, if no deal is done. He would still cost us 12M on the cap.

yep .... i think they delays to get things done were more to try and get that extra 10-14 million for the cap. which wont be available with no deal being done by tonight

I think how the incentives affect the cap is based on how acheivable it is. I think the way they determine this is based of the previous season. So depending on what the incentives I don't see them affecting the cap too much

I doubt it. Incentives are normally pushed into the following years cap, but since 2007 is an uncapped year (for now), any incentives put in his contract will count against 2006. This could be trouble. I don't think that Chad will be a Jet next year if a deal isn't done.

That was the old system. Likely to be earned versus Not likely to be earned. That doesn't apply because 2007 is uncapped.
