Our two most glaring weaknesses against Tampa Bay last week were our rushing attack and rushing defense. We looked very much improved in both areas this week as all of our RB's were effective and our defense did a good job against Washington in stopping the run. The OL looked strong while pushing defenders off the line and getting to the second level.

Good job by Mangini using the timeout in the last minute of the first half avoiding a 10 second run off. Very smart clock management.

Here's to a future of effective game planning and adjustments.

I second that, I was really impressed with the coaching and play calling. I know it's only preseason and now's the best time to call odd plays, but man it sure is a relief not seeing the draw, draw, screen, punt over and over again. How about our rookies!

I agree, and I hope it continues with the passing attack being the next part of the team to improve.

i agree that these players look more coached up but i did see problems. lucky its preseason its obvious its because of a new staff but too many delay of games. shottenheimer and mangini seem to be going at it on the sideline alot. more like mangini chewing out shotty (parcells like) 2nd half looked much better then first in terms of execution.

I'm really impressed with how the players responded to Mangini's philosophy. They all seem to have bought into what he's been trying to do in NY, which is to create a stricter, hardnosed atmosphere. I especially like how Brad Smith has embraced his new position as WR, even when he was originally adamant about staying as a QB.

Even though Mangini will probably experience rookie problems as a head coach in terms of in-game coaching, at least we know he'll make an effort to fix it, unlike that dumbass we had last year. Clock management woes are probably a thing of the past...thank god.

What did I tell you all, [Mangini is the real deal..]That team looked well coached and improved dramaticly from week one to week two. Clock management issues are in the rear view mirror. The culture is changing in Jetland and the product we see every sunday will be tough, competitive, and most important "prepared with a game plan that gives them a chance to win"I mean did you see the KC game, that team looked BAD

There is an "air" along the sidelines... I can't quite describe it... but it's something we haven't had in a long while. An air of confidence, capability... an air of strong, knowledgeable leadership.

It's the look of a coach who actually knows what he's doing! I always knew there was something lacking but couldn't put my finger on it. I haven't felt this confident in years. I think we're on the right track now. I think, if we've got any chance at all to improve now, it can happen with Mangini. I didn't feel that way with Herm, although I was always willing to give him one more chance to improve. He ran out of chances with me when it became apparent he wanted the KC position.

But now, in retrospect, I'm sorry I tolerated Herm's nonsense. We're much better off today than we've been in the past 5 years.

Many of us bought the snake oil Herm was selling, so don't feel too bad. I sense the professional atmosphere and the confidence it breeds as well now.
