I realize he is still a question mark but I don't understand why people are over looking the potential of Patrick Turner?
He's a young big target who Sanchez has familiarity with going back to his USC days and seemed to come alive towards the end of the season.

I think if he's given more opportunities he can be a pretty good WR.

^ I was surprised at McKnight's play at WR the few chances he got. McKnight has decent speed and hands and proved he's not a bad option out of the slot.

They seem to be putting a lot of emphasis on safety (and rightfully so). My thoughts are that who they draft in the first depends what happens with the free agent safeties. If they don't get a safety via FA at all they will probably use their first rounder on a safety and their second rounder on a WR. If they do get a decent safety in FA then they will probably prioritize either a WR or pass rusher with their first round (not even sure where the best pass rushers are expected to go in the draft).

If they get a safety and sign a #2 WR (which isn't likely at this rate) then they will definitely look for pass rusher/RT early on.

Well it's not like it couldn't hurt, abyz.

I mean....Braylon(if signed) won't be around for long. Holmes will be because of the ridiculous overpayment he was given.

What the Jets need is someone to take Braylon's place once his usefulness is finished here.

because the Jets are weighing all their options which is smart. Edwards injury is a question mark and if he doesnt get any interest from other teams we could get him for cheap and there are definitely better WRs than Cotchery available.

probably because he hasn't shown anything in three years.

he was cut by the dolphins after a season. i think we've cut him twice in two seasons as well.

i guess it was nice seeing him catch a few balls last season.. but it's really not hard to get why people don't view patrick turner as a legit option.

Yea but lets be real the jets dont want to spend any money, if they did they would have already, Lloyd went for what 3 years 12 million great wr for money.

I say make a cheap offer and get something done. On paper this free agency we look like a failure and after the draft I think we may also look bad as well.

make a cheap offer to who? braylon who's not healthy right now? will that help us win free agency on paper?

    By what measure of success?

I actually think the Jets have made a couple of moves in getting a cheap young backup QB and an injury prone but impactful safety relatively cheaply that reflect well on the franchise.

I'm not on board on the Landry signing but I think it is a very defensible move.

The teams that go apeshit in free agency every year tend to be the teams watching from the sidelines at the end of the season, leading them to go apeshit again in free agency again the next year.

This Chaz fellow will not be our number 2. I expect the Jets to sign a legit number 2 in free agency. We can bring back Braylon to go alongside Holmes, with Kerley in the slot and I'd like to see what Turner can do in an expanded role.

I hope we dont draft WR in the first. That'll mean we've ignored the passrush once again! OLB needs to be priority. RT/WR in 2nd and 3rd rds

Braylon: We keep saying the FO must have some kinda hard on for Braylon, and it may very well be so.

The fins looked like idiots to dump the best receiver they've ever had in Brandon Marshal for two 3rd round pics, but now look at what the Bears got...the best wide receiver the fins ever had that's gonna get suspended for multiple games AND no 3rd round pic this year AND no 3rd round pic next year.

So sometimes the FO knows 'whats up', keep their mouths shut, and move on.

If Braylon was 1/5th as good as we hope he would be, Tanny would have had him in hear a month ago.

Basically we need one more WR. Our options are to sign a Cotchery, Braylon, Donnie Avery type to compete to be the #2 with Schilens (Holmes and Kerley have the 1 and 3 spots locked up imo) or we could draft a WR fairly high (I'd say first 2 rounds) to compete with Schilens. We cannot assume that Chaz will be healthy or good enough to be a starter.

Edit: And let me say I would be perfectly fine with getting Cotchery or Braylon back. I think a Holmes/Kerley/Schilens/Braylon or Cotchery/Turner WR corps can be very solid and potentially deep. We won't have elite guys, honestly probably a 1a and a bunch of 3s, but that can really work. Schilens, Cotch and Braylon are all guys who can burn 4s and one of them would be able to be the 4th WR.

Ugh to all of the people still harping on Cotchery or god-knows-who. We already got two guys with potential and injury risks/non big impact makers. We'll sign one more receiver in the first four rounds of the draft. It's over. We need to draft a player to either be an immediate or future #1 or at least a viable alternative to Holmes as a future #2 when we can get away from his contract in a couple years.

We can add Braylon for cheap, but that's about the only option at this point besides the draft. In my view though I'd rather see Tanny resist that temptation because you can't add Braylon and a high draft pick, it makes no sense. Can't hire 3 FA WR's, add a high draft pick, while carrying over a #2, #3 and a couple of projects to boot. That's obscene.

I agree with those here who say the draft emphasis needs to be on ROLB. And help for the OL needs to be a high priority, too. That being said it would be better if the Jets added Edwards, if healthy.

I also can't believe some here seem to totally discount the possibility that Tanny is not looking at Edwards because he doesn't want to in effect admit he was wrong to let Edwards go last year. We should be so sure Tanny does not do that sort of thing? All you have to do is look at the way he "handled" the Pete Kendall situation to see how he has done that in the past.

    Agreed

Have to agree with that. Edwards was a #1 when he was here.

Pass Rush first and foremost. As much as I want the Jets to draft a top flight WR like Blackmon or Floyd, I'd be happy with Sanu or even Toon. Games are won in the trenches and the DL plus getting to the passer is more important than 80yd attempts down the sideline.

OL help is also necessary cause if Mark doesn't stay upright, then we won't be throwing to our "top flight" WR.
