    CBS SportsLine.com wire reports

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas -- Former major league outfielder Mel Hall has been charged with sexually assaulting two girls in 1998 and 1999 when he was coaching them on a select basketball team.

The 46-year-old Hall was released from jail Friday on $35,000 bail. He was arrested the previous day on charges of sexual assault of a child under 17 and aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14, police said Saturday. The second charge carries a possible life sentence because of the age of the alleged victim.

This means, of course, that all Yankees are pedophiles.

Somehow if the headline was former Cub or former Indian it just doesnt bring importance to it.

Not really sure what you're saying here - Sportsline didn't single out him being a former Yankee, and him being a former Cub and Indian (and Giant) is not very relevant on a Jets message board.

It was posted on some web sites as former Yankees OF. Thats how I heard about it.
My wife was surfing and on a web site and the headline was Former Yankee OF arrested.
I probably stated it incorrectly but would you read an article about a former Cub OF or a Former Yankee OF?
As a baseball fan it probably doesnt matter to you but to the non hardcore fans, more people would click or read because they recognize the Yankee name.

Oh GEEEEEEZ Buttleman... give it a rest!! The world does not revolve around the Yankees. The idea that people read more stories about the Yankees then Cubs must have come from Mr. Kaye himself.

Then why would a headline from a news source be Former Yankee outfielder instead of "ex major leaguer", or "Former Cubs player" or anything else.
Why was he automatically designated as a "yankee".

Its like when a disney employee is involved in something down here. The headline and article startes with "Disney Cast Member ......." whether it had anything to with Disney or not.

Just checked with the misses and she said that she saw it on MSN but that switches to fox that has the headline as ex-major leaguer.

So maybe it was or maybe it wasnt.

Whether you like it or not the NYyankees are the most recognizable sports franchise around the World. It's a fact and don't let some silly intra-City rivalry cloud reality.

Are you implying that the latent homosexuality in this photo is sick and perverted? I would've expected better of you.
