I guess with Jones and Washington holding out Greene and Woodhead are going to get alot of attention early on and we should have a better understanding of what they are capable of. I really hope Woodhead pans out ........it would make a great story.
Thomas Jones has no reason to complain. He signed the contract and he was actually paid pretty solid money and he wasn't crying then. He rushed for 1 TD back in 2007...He wasn't crying over the contract then, but now he has a good year and wants to be paid even more? Give me a break. Put it this way...Leon Washington has been getting paid like a 4th rounder when he's been our MVP like two years in a row. If Leon would enter the draft today, with everyone knowing his talent, he would be a top 15 pick. His situation is different that Thomas Jones because the Jets have already gave Jones really good money and Leon is still playing on a 4th round contract. Leon wants to be a Jet, he just wants to be paid for his talent and I cant disagree with the man. He's worth every penny.
Holding out in Mini Camp is one thing, but I would expect to see both Jones and Leon on the feild opening day. Yea they want more, but they are not about to miss out on any possible payday they can get or fines the will inncure if they hold out of training camp.
time will tell on how long both these guys hold out. they both have agents that are known for their shenanigans so it could be interesting.
I agree it would be great for Woodhead to pan out. With Jones gone next year one way or another, I'd love to see Danny succeed for another reason. It would allow us to focus the draft next year on building up depth on both sides of the line.
I wouldn't call Greene and Woodhead practice squad scrubs. I really think DW could be a playmaker at this level if he can stay healthy.
if no one on this board even heard of leon/jones, and moorehead/greene were our featured RBs, we would all be THRILLED with the upcoming season. accept for the posters who can't get excited over sanchez bc of his lack of play time.
This Jones holdout is a blessing in disguise for the Jets. The opportunity to get rid of an overpaid back, older back and find out what you have long term in Leon Washington and Shonn Greene. Jones is a standout player and his production was great last year, but his best years are behind him and we shouldn't pay for his past accomplishments. -X-
