Just to throw this out there, but is there a possibility that Haley is going to be the OC and Sparano will be the OL/Asst. HC here? Is it written in stone that Sparano is going to be OC? They are bringing Haley in for an interview today, they didn't bring in Sparano, and Haley has the more recent experience as an OC, a position he held with Cards from 07-09 (including 08 Super Bowl team). AND OF COURSE, as I write this, I see a tweet from McManus saying Sparano is officially the OC. Son of a...
Jets just announced that Sparano has been named OC. I would love it if we can also get word on Haley today before he leaves the building. Something tells me he and Sparano had this planned out long before today, perhaps while already talking to the Jets. I don't think it's a coincidence Haley agreed to come in for an interview AFTER it was known Sparano would be named OC.
The speculation is the same thing is going on in what happened in 06 in Dallas where Sparano was the OC. They may offer Haley the assistant HC title so he doesn't go to Arizona. They might be bringing him in to convince him to work here instead of going to AZ
Yup. Just saw the tweet. Dang it... but I agree whole-heartedly. Hope they get Haley in the fold before he leaves the building.
I bet we hear Haley will join the Jets today. I have read that both Sparano and Haley were eager to join forces again and revisit the success they had in Dallas.
Even though I'm excited for the changes coming to the coaching staff on the offense, I'm still a little cautious about the team itself. Hopefully, Sporano and company can bring the offense together to one cohesive unit.
That's the real trick, isn't it... because it's clear that it is more than just a fractured unit right now, it has players being thrown under buses by other players every day now. These changes were clearly needed, and I just hope that the personalities being brought in are going to change a culture of entitlement and apparently laziness that seems to have finally imploded and (thankfully) forced Schotty out. I think bringing in guys (if they do get Haley as well) that have worked together before and have worked for Parcells could be the right way to go. I am going to be real interested to see how Parcells-ian guys do under Rex, and his completely different style.
Well, now Rex can totally ignore the offensive side of the ball even more. Haley is definitely a good offensive mind, but he has an ego the size of Montana. If things go bad, would it surprise anyone if he stabbed Rex in the back? On the other hand, as much as Sporano and his antics on the sideling made me cringe, I think he's a good Offensive innovator, and a team player.
Exactly, the lack of respect for each other and lack of team work really hurt the Jets this season. Mabye it will be like peanut butter n jelly.
I didn't read the whole thread but I have to ask : I thought Haley was on the verge of returning to the Cards?
I would be nice if we could replicate some of the fearsome Cardinals passing attack, that Haley was OC of, and that went to the Super Bowl. "Under Haley’s guidance, the Cardinals offense in 2008 was one of the league’s most innovative and explosive units.[2] Arizona tied for third in the league in scoring, registering a franchise-record 427 points (26.7 ppg).[2] The Cardinals were fourth in total offense, averaging 365.8 yards per game.[2] Arizona was second in the league in passing offense (292.1 ypg) and ranked sixth in the NFL with 20.5 first downs per game."
