The Mets have another Jose they are very excited about. Jose Coronado is 20 years old, switch hitter, 6ft1, 175 lbs (currently), playing second base at double AA Mets. As a 19 year old at class A last year, he hit a little under 300 , twenty something doubles, and four triples.
Along with Carlos Gomez - at triple AAA, Fernando Martinez - 18 years old at AA Ball, and Tony Pena's son, 17 year old catcher Francisco currently at 6ft2 and 220 lbs. They say he catches like his father used to and has a Mike Piazza type bat. The future is looking VERY BRIGHT. OMAR keep pounding those Caribbean bushes.

It's nice to have a steady flow of young talent pushing it's way into Shea but any comparissons between Pena and Piazza are ridiculous. It's nothing personal JJ, Piazza is just one of the best hitters of all time we shouldn't downplay that.

I think his point was that he fields like Pena Sr. and hits like Piazza. Not a bad combo.

Sorry, I was just referring to the scouting report on him when the Mets first signed him. I myself could not make that comment because number 1, I have never seen him play, and number 2, I am not a professional scout and have no clue what a 17 year old is going to turn into by watching him play at that age. I prefer to leave that to the professionals who have a very acute eye for that kind of thing.
