This is just one interpretation in my eyes, in the same mind as G+C's mock off-season. I'm sure my thoughts on how this should go will change. My numbers don't match up perfectly either since I got deeper into actual contract offerings. Slightly over the cap but I didn't factor in cap inflation. And I'm sure our professional GM could make these numbers work. Also, take your pick on Lamb or Higgins. I think Lamb is the more dynamic player, while Higgins fits what we need at receiver more. With no franchise LT available at our pick I elected to pass. We replace 3/5 of the offensive line and set ourselves up pretty nicely. I also think Beachum is basically a must keep. We can't risk having Shell be our LT next year. Even if we draft one it's good insurance. I'm not opposed to moving the draft picks around and going OL in the first and second either. Just one take on it. We'll have to live to fight another day at edge. There's no one I'd pay except Ngakoue, who will get a $90 million deal at minimum. No Nathan Shephard or Luvu, either. Not saying they should stay, necessarily, but what are we doing with them?
Shepherd added. Luvu is gone he doesn't play as it is and he's a free agent. I left a lot of guys like that off the list because I can see them being camp bodies/competing for roster spots. My count has 50 of the 53 man roster. So some of those spots will be taken/left by camp bodies. I think we'll be in a spot like that with kicker as well. Ficken sucks.
Very weird the Jets signed Ficken considering the fact that they worked out Younghoe Koo whose 17/19 right now with Atlanta. Ficken is a terrible kicker but I thoroughly enjoy when he kicks, its grade A entertainment.
Yep. Younghoe helped me advance in the fantasy playoffs last week with an 18 point performance. I'm glad we chose the loser that's Ficken. To be fair, Koo is kicking in a dome and the warm south. I think that's probably why we went with Ficken as we figured we may as well get someone who sucks in cold weather in college so he can do it here too.
Avery Williamson's contract is more than fair for the level of production he gave us last year. I really don't understand why so many of you guys want to cut him loose to overpay someone else. Before you say we don't need him, look again at how easily the Ravens ran up the gut against our "awesome" no name defense.
I'm torn on Avery Williamson. I'd really like to keep him, but Burgess and Hewitt have played extremely well in the same categories that Williamson is a plus player in. He's probably a better blitzer but also doesn't add a ton in coverage. If we kept him I'd definitely be happy about it. I just suspect we won't.
I don't think Burgess is playing extremely well by any means. He makes plenty of tackles, they are just 10 yards down the field. He's battling his ass off but he is obviously limited and wouldn't play for any other team. these jets are just down like 8 linebackers
Eh I think Burgess is a quality player and has improved week to week. He hits hard and fills holes. I think he has the potential to be a good zone coverage linebacker as well. Better than he's shown. But we'll see what they decide to do at ILB. Assuming Williamson returned to form, he and Mosely would be an outstanding duo.
1st priority: offensive line overhaul 2nd priority: get edge rushers 3rd priority: get a top wide receiver This probably means there will be an unpopular trade or trades. Some combination of Maye, Adams, Bell, Andersen will be traded.
nice write up! just 1 thing though. we can't cut enunwa. can't cut an injured player and his salary for 2020 is guareteed for injury. we won't be able to cut him until the year after next
