He can be replaced...I love the fact that he is hard nosed, but the fact of the matter is that the injuries are piling up and I don't think it would be wise to sign him to a long term contract at this point. Its too late for that. I really get the feeling his time here is growing short, and who besides us is going to pick up the $11M tab for an old receiver with serious concussion problems? I look for the receiving corps to have a makeover in the coming months. Cotchery, Stucky, Smith, likely to make the team, and keep in mind the Jets IR'ed David Clowney rather than getting rid of him. They must like something about him. A FA, draft pick(s), and it doesn't leave much room on the roster for Coles if he complains too much.
I know Tanny is busy right now, but he should sit Coles down and have a talk, Fact is, we would be stupid to lock Coles up for 5 year at his age. This is exactly the kind of thing Dumbway and Herm used to do that helped get us into the mess we had last year. I might see if the expectation of Coles is at least somewhat reasonable. I might consider a one year extension on his two year deal. That would be about as far as I can go. Then again, if the guy keeps whining like a spoiled bitch, then he is punching his ticket out of here. The club has invested a lot of money into next year and beyond; they are not going to put up will malcontent and badmouthing the Front Office.

Exactly! Coles has put his body on the line, its time to pay him back. With that being said, Mangini praises the hell out of Coles every chance he gets, he is a model player on this team. No way Mangini gets rid of this guy, he has too much heart and soul on the football field. If you ask me Chad should give Coles a few million for all the concussions he he has caused him.
