Sorry, not a big fan. I like some of your moves in FA (Njoku, Tomlinson & Jackson), but dislike others (re-signing Feeney, Shepherd, Joyner, McDermott and Kroft). I like some of your picks in the draft Hamilton, Linderbaum (separately, but not together in the 1st round), Ruckert, Raimann, and possibly Enagbare, but don't care for the rest. I don't like the trade for Ridley at all, and then you don't draft a WR. So we lose Crowder and Cole, and add only Ridley. That would leave us with Davis, Moore, Ridley, Mims, J. Smith, Montgomery and Black). You improved the TE corps, but we need 4, not 3 TEs. I don't like the Jeff Wilson signing in FA. There are better RBs in the draft that can be found in the 4th or 5th round. With your offensive moves, you're not helping Zach that much at all. Aside from Hutchinson and KT, there are at least 2, maybe 3 Edges I like better than Enagabare.
appreciate the feed back. Why not Hamilton and Linderbaum in the same draft? I agree there are several edges I’d also prefer but i predict at least 6 edge rushers go in the first. But with that pick I’d like any edge rusher I’m just partial to Enagbare. I agree there’s a need for an additional WR, TE, QB . the mock roster is only 51 players didn’t look that deep into FA although not sexy moves I feel like the resigning of Feeney and McDermott add versatility and comfort in the system (Feeney C/G, McDermott G/T). Joyner looked like an all pro in training camp his injury (triceps tear) shouldn’t interfere with his game even if it turns chronic. Kroft and Sheppard aren’t great players but they performed well enough at times this year and are cheap options. I can understand the issues with the trade but my favorite part of it is both players can easily be released after the 2022 season. Both players fill major needs and Deion Jones is familiar with Ulrich from his days as LB coach in ATL. I know this is an unpopular opinion but im not that impressed with this WR class. Banks is my #1 prospect but he’ll be gone in the top 15. If Ridley doesn’t pan out we’ll have 2 1st round picks next year to acquire a WR.
Because neither S nor C is a premium position. TIMO top 10 picks should be used on premium positions or playmakers. I could accept one of our 1st round picks not being used on a premium position, but not both. I'd love to replace McGoverrn with Linderbaum, but don't think we should. My reasons for that are one, I think Burks should be the pick at #10; and two, with Becton's health and play questionable at this point, with Raimann probably not being ready to play this season, with your not re-signing Moses, and with Fant's contract being up following this season, if we're going to focus on protecting Zach, #4 should be used on Ekwonu or Neal if KT or Hutchinson isn't there. McDermott shouldn't be protecting Zach's blindside ever again. Also, imo the Jets should sign Marcus Williams or Jesse Bates III in FA. Another reason is that most Jets fans don't think a safety should be taken in the top 10, and many, if not most, Jets fans think taking Linderbaum in the top 10 is way too high. They would likely go ballistic if JD took both of them. Feeney is awful as is McDermott. I don't want either possibly having to see the field this year. I love JD, but would question his competence if he brought even one of them back, much less both. I like Joyner but at his age, and coming off an injury, it's too risky imo, particularly when there are several very good safeties who could be available in FA and there are 4-6 very good safety prospects in the draft. Shepherd didn't do anything except commit penalties. Kroft can't stay healthy and dropped too many passes in key situations. That can't be accepted. Players who commit penalties and who drop passes must go, if for no other reason than to send a message to the other players that that kind of crap will not be tolerated. Trading for a WR with mental health issues is very risky. If he doesn't work out, it would be a disaster, and it won't matter that he can easily be released. It would particularly be bad imo to pass up on great WR prospects in the draft because we traded for Ridley and then him not work out. That would hurt Zach's development and probably put JD's job into danger. Zach is the most important player on the team. If he doesn't develop, and make significant progress this year, fans will be calling for a new QB, the pressure will ratchet up. If he doesn't develop the rest of the team doesn't matter. For WR, do you mean "Burks" instead of "Banks"? If so, I love Burks and think he will be a star in the NFL and is a perfect scheme fit. IMO he should be the pick at #10. At least if you take Hamilton and Burks, you are taking two playmakers with elite potential.
Pretty realistic. Love the Kingsley draft pick.love the Ridley trade. love Linderbaum but still think we can get a center like Alex Lindstrom in rd 3
bates or Williams would be great but way to expensive and JD has proven he’s unwilling to pay safeties huge $$ while safety may not be a premium position Hamilton plays more of a hybrid position which would excel under salah. Linderbaum is a tone setter and a very rare interior lineman prospect worthy of a top 15 pick besides Burks who is a great WR prospect? I’m very underwhelmed with this WR class. As I said I like burks too but I have Hamilton (#4) and Linderbaum (#7) higher rated then burks (#11) I’d be open to taking Neal at 4, but if not him I’d rather trade back and pick up a 1st next year. In doing so we missed out on Ekwonu. we’ll agree to disagree on the resigned players. I see lower risk low cost options, I’m sure they could be upgraded in free agency but I’m not impressed with the Dt market, and I value versatility in offensive lineman not all mental health issues lead to Antonio brown, absolute worst case scenario is he steps away again making Davis and Moore the top Wrs (not horrible 1/2) and we draft a we with one of our 2 1sts in 2023. Best case sanerio? We walk away with a top 15 #1 wr with Davis as a strong possession #2 recover and Moore is the best slot in the NFL.
Yes, they'll be expensive but any toplevel FA is going to be expensive and should provide immediate help to improve either the offense or defense. I know that Hamilton is very good against both the pass and the run and is a ball hawk/playmaker. I also know that Linderbaum is supposedly a generational C. Neither player is more important to me than Burks at WR, and neither position is more important than getting Zach an elite WR. Look at what Cincinnati has done by drafting WRs early rather than OL. We can get a developmental C in the middle rounds. If JD doesn't want to over pay a S in FA, he can draft one in the 2nd round. Burks is a perfect scheme fit and a perfect complement to Moore. I haven't looked at any other WRs other than Garrett Wilson, London, Olave and Romeo Doubs. Garrett's a great prospect, but is too much like Moore. Olave is not as good as Wilson, but at least is a little taller. I really like London's height, but have some concerns with him. Doubs is 6'2", fast and a playmaker. David Bell is 6'2" or 6'3" I believe, supposedly a good route runner, and good hands, but isn't very fast. If we miss out on Burks, then I think they should make getting Doubs a priority, but would settle for one of Bell or London. We need a tall WR to give Zach a bigger target along with TEs. I think Ekwonu is better than Neal, but would be happy with Neal. Drafting a player a year earlier than he is needed and grooming his is great, but we aren't at that place yet. That's not why I want to draft an OT. We need insurance in case Becton doesn't come back healthy or playing at a high level. Moses was ok last year, but wasn't great, either. Having Fant and Ekwonu/Neal at OTs would make our offense and Zach a lot better. No one said we had to agree on every point, so it's fine that we disagree. With regards to DT, there are some good ones who could be available and there should be some good run-stuffing DTs who will be available in the 4th or 5th round. I know that all menal health issues don't lead to Antonio Brown, but still are those issues resolved or at least well in hand? The problem with mental health issues is that they're never completely healed. They can always raise their heads again. IMO trading a high draft pick for him is not wise. Again, we need a top WR to help Zach in 2022, not wait until 2023. With the way Davis dropped passes last year, I'm not counting on him except as a #2 or #3 option. Also, imo if we make any kind of trade, all picks should be this year. I'm totally against taking a 2023 1st round pick. We need the picks now, to give the players a year to develop, help the team improve and remove pressure on JD, Saleh and Zach. The other issue with trading for a pick next year is that it has lesser value, and that value can wind up being a lot less if that team has a great season in 2022. Nothing you suggested is off the wall or irrational and you give good rationale for the moves you would make. I respect that, I just see things differently, and think there's a better way. I've enjoyed the discussion with you, and will be happy to discuss this further or anything else with you .
I believe we will need picks in 2023 as well. Unless you’re aware of some end of days info, all draft classes will have time to develop. I don’t believe JD, BoB, or Zach have a problem with pressure. If they do then imo we got the wrong guys.
Fans and the media will be calling for the Jets to make the playoffs in 2022. Players drafted in 2023 will not help achieve that. I'm not worried about JD, Saleh and/or Zach, I just don't want to hear a bunch of bitching, whining and complaining form posters calling for Saleh and/or JD to be fired and a new QB drafted. IMO that would be the height of stupidity. The best and quickest way to develop the team is to add as many players as they can this year, not next year.
Posters will always find reasons to bitch, whine, and complain. Also, I imagine the player the Jets would pick at 10 migh he the same one they’d pick at 18, so why not take the extra capital?
I think you’re valuation of future picks needs some work. Hamilton, the top 3 Edge, top 2 tackles, C, top CB, and top wr go 1-9. No one is offering value for a trade. Who are you taking at 10?
4 million for Feeney? I wouldn't give him 4 dollars. We should also get more for the #4 pick. I'm not bringing back Shepherd at any price. He has more dumb penalties than sack/tackles. He was the 2nd worst Maccagnan pick after that Penn State QB whose name I refuse to say or spell out. Well done! If WFT is trading up for a QB (Pickett in this scenario), I would probably want more than that do drop from 4 to 11. Even if you just make that '23 3rd a '23 2nd, I could probably get on board though. Man, watching Cross, Ekwonu, and then Karlaftis go 6-8 would be a gut punch if we traded back. Glad to see others hopping on the Raimann bandwagon. If we don't address OT in Round 1, I would love to use a 2nd/3rd on Raimann! 42 might be a tad early for him IMO but I'm not pulling my hair out at that. Like I said, overall well done! As long as Ridley checks out, I think this offense would be a lot of fun to watch and you were able to improve the D by adding some major playmakers in Jackson, Hamilton, Jones.
Not sure if you’re saying he’d do it in the pros, but you’re not running your 300 pound center out there to long snap on special teams.
I was speaking tongue in cheek. Maybe you can tell but I’m pretty against taking a C with our 1st 4 picks.
