    Cimini's Blog...

Jets take aim at first place
    November 9, 2008
Good morning, folks. It?s the Jets and Rams today at the Meadowlands, where the Jets hope to improve to 6-3. If the Patriots beat the Bills today in Foxborough, it?ll be Jets vs. Pats Thursday night for sole possession of first place. That has to be in the back of the Jets? minds today as they face one of the worst teams in the league.

The only news (if you could call it that) among the inactives is that Jay Feely will remain the kicker for at least another game. Not surprisingly, injured PK Mike Nugent is inactive, but he?s getting closer to returning and there?s no doubt that Feely is operating with no margin for error. If he makes a big mistake, and Nugent is well enough, it?ll be Nugent against the Patriots.

    The rest of the inactives:

    WR David Clowney
    CB Justin Miller
    RB Marcus Mason
    S Eric Smith
    LB David Harris
    TE Bubba Franks
    QB Brett Ratliff (3rd QB)

For the Rams, RB Steven Jackson (quadriceps) is inactive, as expected. RB Travis Minor also is a scratch, leaving the Rams with a banged-up Antonio Pittman, Kenneth Darbyu and Sam Gado at running back. Not good.

    DAMN IT.
At first I saw the list, didn't see Nugent and celebrated in my head. But no luck.

Wait, what happened to Erik Ainge?

Nugent and Feely are basically the same guy. I wouldn't care if both were released in the off-season and we picked up someone new.

yeah, I'm disappointed everytime I see him on there since he's been healthy. He could add a speed dimension we don't quite have right now

He's a rookie out of Youngstown State...he was pretty good for a small school running back.

Mason's built a lot like Chatman. He's a short compact power runner...he'll probably never, ever contribute, but you never know.

God dammit, even Kerry Rhodes and Favre said that Clowney is the fastest guy on the team...

I can see Clowney back for the Patriots game, or latest the Titans game.

^^^yeah but like mangini said, for clowny to play, wallace or brad will have to sit out, and both of these buys bring a lot to the special teams. bencing the nfl's leading special teams tackler in wallace to 'test out' clowny as the 5th receiver doesn't make coaching sense.

I still say they could inactivate Clemens. We have an indestructible QB and B. Smith could run the college option in a pinch.
