I'm with you on this. I know the vast majority of Jets fans have more hate for the Pats and Dolphins (and don't get me worng, I hate them plenty) but for me wanting the team you share your city with to lose is more fundamental, especially considering how the Giants are treated in this city. LOVE seeing the Giants suffer.
Ive had no bad encouters with both fans although jets fans seem more open and as you said know how to have a good time . On another note , who did you guys want to win SB42 Pats or Giants , I know the pats and Jets is a big rivalry but did you see it as Giants getting another ring or NY getting one over on Boston im interested to hear your thoughts. Personally i was going berserk when Tyree made that catch the whole drive to that touchdown was great . That SB was so good i had to buy the dvd of the Giants run to the superbowl only thing that ruined it was Bellichick the little rat running onto the pitch like a sore loser when there were still seconds on the clock .
Definitely rooting for the Pats to lose. Out of curiosity, what brings Seahawks and Saints fans here?
I love football Seahawks are my team , However i go to NY every few years and love the city and have sort of kept a eye out for the NY teams , and i thought why not join a Jets forum they are probally my favourite of the two , I like reading and commenting on others posts about player performances and other stuff going on with the franchise. I went to NY last year and had a awesome time im coming back in August for my 3rd time , only bad thing is im coming for 1-7 so i miss the Jets pre season game so attending a NFL game in the US is on my list of things to do , however i do have tickets to yankees red sox and mets cards . I went to the dolphins giants game at wembley and im going again this year to watch the Bucs play the Pats . So there you go buddy
Ahh man it was amazing just to see Brady go down so many times was great , i was so pysched after it me and few friends went out afterwards to play football at some church car park saying that it was 4:30am uk time and the place was pitch black . My friends bro is a pats fan and was at a bar we heard him over the phone he was drunk and drowning his sorrows haha.
Pats to lose obviously. It was more than just the NY-Boston thing as they were the only team in NFL history to go 18-0. Don't get me wrong my detest for the Pats is unquestioned. However a lot of football purists from fanbases all across the NFL wanted to see the Pats lose that game. The fact that it was the Giants who made them 18-1 was just gravy.
The 72 Dolphins must of been well ticked off when they went 18-0 , but im glad they didnt go all the way , although there must of been a good few bandwagon pats fans around the globe too. Alot of people lost money that night i tell you that for nothing , When my dad went to florida he was wearing my brothers Giants SB champs shirt and one guy came up to him and just said it was a great game and that he had won $500 there are still believers out there people , funny thing is my dad doesnt know a field goal from a home run.
Dino26... My mother was born in Scotland... Paisley to be exact. Of course, this was in 1920, way before your time I'm sure. She entered the US through Canada in 1926 or so. I always kid her that she's an illegal immigrant. She's still alive and enjoys her occasional glass of wine with me. Maiden name was Moffat. So there you go friend. Go Jets!
Seems to me to be more empty seats at Kickoff for Jets games. Also a lot more people moving up and down the aisle.
I could never figure that out. We're in our seats for the national anthem, always. In fact, some of the nicest times have been when I'd take my kids in about an hour and a half before kickoff. You sneak down onto the 50 at about Row 8 or so and watch the entire warmups. They really got a kick out of that. Then when the kickoff is near, we'd move back up to our seats in the Mezz.
Whenever someone asked me who I was rooting for during the Giants/Patriots Super Bowl, I always said, "I'm rooting more for the Patriots to lose than the Giants to win."
I think alot of this is that the Jets/Mets werent ever treated with much respect as the Yanks/Giants had been around for so long, and the Dodgers, who the Mets replaced left town. Also, as the Jets played at Shea, it seemed like the Home team for alot of Mets fans. I hate the Giants and Yanks though, and my wife is a die-hard Yanks fan! One of the Best Threads ever and I will always take a 12 pack of Yuengling and some damn chips and burgers over anything fancy like wine. If your a newer Jets fan, of course you hate the Pats and Brady. Older fan like me? You still hate the Giants and the damn Fins'! Dan Marino still haunts me, and he still does thanks to all those stupid Diet ad's with Golic and others. Long live the Jets as well as my Beer Gut!
Well I always used to say I had two favorite teams - The Jets, and whoever was playing the Giants. That changed when the Giants played the Pats in the SB. No way did any Jets fan want to see the Pats and Belichek go undefeated. I loved the game, I loved the finish especially - but some of my friends who were watching it jumped up and were high-fiving each other, and whooping it up. I just sat in my chair and said, "hold on here, I'm glad the Giants won the game, it was a great game, but lets keep this in perspective - they're still the Giants." Eh, it was fun being part of a united NY that night. I really don't hate the Giants as much as other teams, and I've figured out the fans have a lot of the influence on that. When i was going to games, the Dolphin fans who would come to our stadium were always the worst, really obnoxious assholes, especially if the dolphins won. I was suicidal/homicidal on the way home from the Marino fake spike game. Dallas Cowboy fans are way up there on the obnoxious scale too. I used to go on a charter bus from Queens, and some guy brought a Dallas fan friend of his on the bus to a game with the Cowboys. The Cowboys won the game and this asshole comes back on the bus, a bus full of about 39 depressed, disgusted, pissed off, and maybe even a little drunk Jets fans, sits down and starts shouting out "HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS". On a bus full of wounded Jets fans, talk about arrogance! I guess I had a few beers that day, but I was down the aisle and in his face before he knew what happened. "One more word about the cowboys, and you'll be walking home from the Meadowlands, I told him... that is if you're still able to walk." He mumbled a bit about how its only a game, and why did some people have to take it so serious and all, but I didnt hear another word about his Cowboys on that ride home. Freakin Raider fans are obnoxious too, with their black and silver and their freakish halloween costumes.
The town she was born in was actually Johnstone. I think it is slightly west of Paisley. We're planning a trip there some day just to have a look. My mom married my dad, 100% Hungarian. So that makes me some kind of strange mix... 50% Scot and 50% Hunky. Healthy as a mule though, and twice as stubborn.
