A look into the future, and as a jets fan i like to do that more than look at whats going on right now. So I have given u sneak peak into what the jets should(hopefully) look like in the beginning of the 2009 season. Getcha popcorn ready Offense QB-Clemens(11), Tuiasosopo(8), Kyle Wright(3), Xavier Lee(1) RB-Jones(20), Washington(29), C.J. Spiller(28), Ware(23) FB-Owen Schmitt(35) WR-Coles(87) ,Cotchery(89),Smith(16),Derrick Williams(81),Stuckey(83),Lance Leggett(18) TE-Baker(86), Pociask(82), Cornelius Ingram(85) C-Mangold(74) T-Fergusen (60),Kirk Barton(75), Jones(79) G-Eric Young(64), Moore(66), Bender(72)Andre Crummey(73) Defense DE- Robertson(63),Chris Long(91),Ellis(92) Coleman(93) NT-B.J. Raji(90),Pouha(91) OLB-Quentin Groves(54),Thomas(99),Curtis Gatewood(56) ILB-Vilma(51),Harris(52),Hobson(55) CB-Revis(24),Miller(22), Coleman(30), Dominique Rogers Cromartie(45) Lydell Sargeant(26) FS-Rhodes(25),Smith(33), Jamario O'Neal(31) SS- Elam(27), Nick Harris(21) Trades Jets 1st Round Pick (top 5) for Dallas’s 2 '08 first round picks Chad Pennington for Vikings/Chiefs 3rd round pick First at QB Clemens will is a full time starter not putting up huge numbers but developing well and is ready to break out. Chad will probably go somewhere else as he is a starter on many other teams and I could see him going to the Chiefs or the Vikings for a third rounder. We pick up Kyle Wright as a free agent in 08 draft. And another QB who could be used alot in different situations, Xavier lee in the 7th in 09. We'll still have Thomas Jones and Washington but jones in 09 is gonna be 30. I don’t see Ware or Washington being full time backs in the future, so the jets draft C.J. Spiller out of Clemson. Owen Schmitt, ever time I see this guy he’s jumping over somebody, good athlete and blocks for slaton and white. At WR Coles and Cotch are still there but in 08 we take Lance Leggett a tall target at 6’4. In 09 we take Derrick Williams in the third. Williams was considered the best prospect to come out of high school in 05 but hasnt really produced. He has amazing talent though to be burner type/slot receiver for now. Cornelius Ingram a TE out of Florida is a tweener type but could be a great pass catching TE in 09. At o-line we grab Eric Young a who plays tackle at Tennessee but in the NFL he is more fit for the guard position, I would say sign Justin Smiley but I dont know why he would want to come here unless we give him top dollar which we wont, later in the draft we pick Kirk Barton in the 3rd. At d-line we get 2 more starters one in 08 Chris long who already plays in the 34 at Virginia in the first and Raji in 09 with our second third round pick, Raji should be in this years draft but will redshirt due to academic reasons. D-rob finally moves to end. We pick up Pat Sims a fast DT in 09 who runs a 4.8. At linebacker we get Quentin Groves in the first next year and snatch another lb in the 5th in Gatewood a player who has had experience at lb and at de. In 08 we pick a corner in Cromartie in the 6th, tall guy who is a d-1a prospect who could see some time starting in the future. In 09 in the first we select Nick Harris safety out of Oklahoma in the second. We pick up another safety later on in the draft Jamario O'Neal out of Ohio State. Also a corner in the 4th in Lydell Sargeant. 08 Draft 1a. Chris Long DE Virginia 1b. Quentin Groves OLB Auburn 2. Eric Young OG Tennessee 3a. Kirk Barton OT Ohio State 3b. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie CB Tennessee State 4. Curtis Gatewood OLB Vanderbilt 5. Owen Schmitt FB West Virginia 6. Lance Leggett WR Miami (FL.) 7. Andrew Crummey OG Maryland 09 Draft 1. C.J. Spiller RB Clemson 2. Nick Harris S Oklahoma 3a. B.J. Raji NT Boston College 3b. Derrick Williams WR Penn State 4. Cornelius Ingram TE Florida 4. Lydell Sargeant CB Penn State 5. Jamario O'Neal S Ohio State 6. Pat Sims DT Auburn 7. Xavier Lee QB Florida State
First of all this should prob be in the draft forum, 2nd of all I can see you put alot of time into this, but if you could mail me whatever your smokin id appreciate it, seems like quality bud.
A better question is who do we expect to be on this team in 2 years: Offense: Clemens Thomas Jones Washington Cotchery Coles Brad Smith Stuckey Baker Brick Mangold Moore Bender Defense Ellis Keyon Coleman Devito (although I've never seen him play) Bryan Thomas Hobson Harris Vilma Revis Justin Miller Rhodes Eric Smith
If Kyle Wright and Xavier Lee were both on the Jets, I would drive my car off of a cliff. Two of the biggest wastes of talent EVER.
xavier lee? really? lmao.... you realize that your crystal ball is looking ahead 2 years...right? and you think we will get a 3rd rounder for chad? thats too funny. if we get a 5th rd pick for chad id shit my pants....hes going to be cut. nobody wants chad...nobody.
i didnt think it was that unrealistic, i mean anything can happen between now and 2 years, and hopefully it does happen cuase i dont really like the mediiocrity. I mean are my picks that much of a reach someone tell me where im reachin at
Basically what you did was go to NFLdraftcountdown.com and look at the sleepers - then you made the Jets select Rogers-Cromartie. You're not getting any "help" for this team with this draft outside of the 2nd round - the only good picks are Groves, Long, and maybe Raji - I like the Ingram pick too, but I see him playing WR in the NFL. In the defensive backfield, you just have us selecting a bunch of guys that were once ranked high on Rivals.com. You're not reaching for anyone, but you're not getting any talent in the later rounds. Anyone that WANTS to sign Kyle Wright and then draft Xavier Lee the following year is never on my side...on anything. Good job though -- you put a lot of work into this. Here's what I didn't like: and then you made us draft/sign not one, but two GARBAGE ACC QBs. and then you made us draft two punt returners/kick returners in CJ Spiller and Derrick Williams...Spiller could develop into an NFL runner, but he's not showing me much on running plays, he mainly does most of his damage on returns/screens/swings -- like Leon Washington, Spiller has big play potential, but can't carry the load. Derrick Williams has never lived up to the hype, but he could be a good pick in the 3rd round or after. You basically said all of that stuff about Williams though. and then, and then, and then, and then! and then.
I totally agree. I go to UM and if I have to watch Kyle Wright on a regular basis. He is not talented enough to make an NFL roster. Troy Smith is a 3rd string and Chris Leak didnt make a team and you want Kyle Wright and Xavier Lee, that is ridiculous haha
With how much Justin Miller sucks at playing cornerback and the fact that Leon Washington has had a pro bowl season at kick returner, Miller will be lucky to even be with this team next year.
