I thought this was going to happen 5 years ago. I think a world without Favre is too much for him to handle.

He was a legend coach and a legend broadcaster. I loved watching the CBS / Fox games with him and Summerall.

Madden was awesome. It's too bad he's retiring. Hopefully it's not because of any health issues.

Watching games when Madden was in the booth was an education, I learnt so much about the game from listening to him.

Going to miss him...Who do you think replaces Madden in the booth? I always hear on PTI that Kornheiser is worried about Favre taking his job on Monday Night Football. Wouldn't that be ironic if Favre took Madden's job on Sunday Night Football???

Collinsworth? That's what they did in the video game.

I'd love to see kornholer gone, can't stand that guy.

Madden and his goofy catch phrases gone ohhh noooooooo.

Maybe now we can have something other then Madden football.

I'm sorry Im to young to remember him as a coach and him in the booth the last 8 years or so have been horrible I think he's got altzeheimers or something rambling on seeming to forget where he was sometimes.

Great as a kid but should have retired years ago.

    BOOM! No more madden..

Just thought I'd take a step away from draft talks and Boldin talks to let everyone know that THE John Madden has decided to retire. Not sure if I'll be able to sit through an entire game without hearing a few food analogies "related" to football. Or having him draw all over my television to explain the complexity of a toss. We'll see who is ready to fill his shoes and annoy the hell out of me while they announce a game. Probably leaning towards Tony Cornheiser or Chris Collinsworth..
But Madden will be missed.. Can't knock eveything he has been able to accomplish.

I liked him better when he and Summerall used to drink like fish before they went on the air.

It's been a sad week for the NFL broadcasters with the death of Kalas and the retirement of Madden. Will we still see Madden video games in the future?
