This is what Leon Washington said about his height in an interview after he was drafted by the Jets: ...however, - NFL Draft Countdown has him listed at 5-7 7/8 http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/rb/leonwashington.html - NFL.com has him listed at 5-8 (probably just rounded from 5-7 7/8) http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2006/washington_leon - ESPN.com has him listed at 5-9 http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=136676 ...I don't know what to believe. But whether he's 5-8 or 5-9, he's still short. It is what it is, but it doesn't mean he can't have success.
ESPN probably had him listed as 5'9'' because that was probably what he was listed as at FSU. Not important, not like a RB will have tremendous success at 5'9, but bust at 5'8. Its only an inch NFL.com rounded him up 1/8 an inch from his combine measurement. Whatever. It dosent matter. Its a whole freakin eighth of an inch. Why is there a thread about this? Even worse, why am I even wasting my time replying to it
i dont think height is a big factor. weve seen small successful backs and big either they have the talent or they dont
Leon Washington | #3 Running Back - Florida State Height: 5'9" Weight: 202 Leon Washington is a quick cutting running back who can slice his way through opposing defenses. He is a terrific all-around back who gets the job done. He Is not as fast as his fellow teammate and running back prospect Lorenzo Booker, but he still runs a sub 4.5 forty. He lacks ideal size, but that doesn't seem to stop him from bouncing off tackles. Washington also excels in his ability to change direction on the field. He also is a surprisingly good pass blocker and is decent at picking up the blitz. He is a very good pass catcher, and is also very good at returning kicks, because as mentioned; he is just a good all-around player. He needs to get a little more bulk on him because he is not the most physical back. He also does lack the ideal size of an NFL running back. Right now, in the 2006 draft, I see Leon Washington as a third round choice, but best case could be late second round. His worse case would be a second day pick in the fourth which could happen. Strengths: ? Quick cutter ? Slices through defense ? Great all-around back Weaknesses: ? Lacks ideal size ? Needs more bulk ? Needs to become a little bit more powerful -Zach Asman
Why don't we measure him in hands (a la horses) and stones (English measurement), confuse everyone, and call this a moot issue.
I dont see Washington being a star with us, maybe as other people have said a kevin faulk type of player but nothing else.
now if only we knew the volume of his body...then we could start talking about things that matter. the number of CCs the dude is. Then we could start comparing running backs to cars and motorcycles. Weight to Horsepower ratio...That Leon Washington is makes a shitload of torque for his size.
