Even if he doesnt start this week he will eventually. You wont do yourself any harm by adding him now.

You sure he will? I actually have a fairly good bench and i'd have to drop someone who is either valuable or who has good prospects... i'd like some assurances that washington is going to take over if possible :)

Just wondering if you guys heard anything in the media or something... like when he was drafted if any of the coaches/management hinted in any way that he'd eventually start.

Even if he is eventually the starter technically, I would still expect to see both Barlow and Houston get plenty of touches, especially at the goal line.

I wouldn't put too much stock into that until you see him get a decent amount of carries in a game. He seems to be the most explosive back on our roster but he is a 4th round rookie. If he does start to get more carries, picking him up may not be a bad idea.

edit: and change your avatar already!

Don't forget that Mangini has stated we'll run the ball by "committee."

I'd rather have Barlow pound it up the middle to get the defense tired and have Washington as a 3rd down back or take over in the second half.

I want whomever gives us the best chance to score points. maybe washington can't get us a hard 3-4 yards as much as barlow can, but he offers more in terms of game impacting play ability.

I'd stay away from all Jet RBs. Even if one is designated as the "starter", they will all share carries. Washington has big play potential, but chances of him getting the rock in red zone situations probably aren't very high. Besides, the run blocking stinks to high heaven anyway.

Washington will not be the starter at any point this season... I wouldn't really count on it in any way shape or form.

There is no way the coaching staff would say that he was gonna start. At this point, you really have no idea what this guy has. I think we're in desperate need of a spark in the running game and he may be a surprise this year (he definetly has the explosiveness) but it's to early to tell. I certainly hope to see him for a full game.

i hope not...we need to keep him healthy, and he is a great change of pace from either houston or barlow

    but not a starter

Ehh I don't know about him actually starting. I think it may be too early. Have him continue to do what he did against Buffalo, and more. If the running game just doesn't work out in the new few games with Barlow and Blaylock, have Washington and Houston share the time.
