the mets seem to wear out these pinch hit specialist.
    lenny harris
    joe mcewing
    julio franco
    now marlon anderson
it seem like he takes 2 strikes before he takes the bat off his shoulder
he was 1-11 batting .077 and 0- for his last 10 before striking out last night.

cant wait for alou to come back and release this dumb ass

I made a comment about this in one of the game threads the other day until I looked and realized how awful the Mets bench is. I mean who else is going to be your lefty bat off the bench? Endy? Pagan? Pretty slim pickings.

Thomas got released because he was demanding to play every day. He's not going to come to the Mets to be a bench player. Not to mention that he's only played like 30 games in the field over the last 8 years.

    Barroid.

Two days a week at first (delgado), One or two in the outfield (alou), Two available off the bench.
When he is in the field, half the time you get a hitter on the bench, half the time you get delgado out of the lineup.

I happen to agree with it. I mean, don't get me wrong, the Mets need Alou's bat bad, but Pagan is absolutely crushing the ball. Tough call. Bench Beltran, move Pagan to center, Alou in LF. :breakdance:

As for Marlon Anderson though, I think Willie needs to get him a start and get him four at-bats in a game and hope he gets the ball rolling. We've played in 17 games, he's pinch hit in 15 of them and has only gotten one hit.

Pagan is 4-22 the last week. He had a couple nice games for us at the start of the season but as soon as Alou is back he's going back on the bench where he belongs.

I can't believe it but I agree with you, he would only need to play 3-4 games a week and it'd be nice to get Alou and Delgado some rest a few times a week. It's also a scary bat coming off the bench in a pinch hit situation.

I was at the Giants/Mets day game at AT&T 2 years ago. (The game Bannister injured his hamstring). Anyway the Mets had a 2 run lead in the 9th and had Wagner on the hill, Wright commited a throwing error and kept the inning alive. Bonds came out to pinch hit and a few swings later he hit #711. It'd be nice to have somebody like that coming out of the dugout with 2 on in the 9th.
