It's a done deal, we are trading our next two years of picks to move up to #1 and take him. We already signed him to a 70 million dollar contract with 30 million guarenteed.

If you look at the skills greg olsen has he is a great fit. Whether we can afford to take him is arguable

What skills does he have? Where has this skill been the last few years? He was mediocre in college. He had a great workout at the combine and now he is Jeremy Shockey. WITH THE 25TH PICK THE JETS DRAFT THE BUST OF THE 2007 DRAFT OLSEN!

This is my issue with this board. You did not watch him in college because he was anything but mediocre, he played in an attrocious offense behind a weak line. As a canes fan I resepectfuly disagree. What skills does he have? Good hands, can stretch the field, before the combine he was the #2 TE and going in the 2nd round. He is not a product of the combine

Olsen will be awesome for the Jets. Stop with the tears and deal with it.

Can greg Olsen catch a football? He is mediocre and all. He may have gone in round 7 or undrafted if he hadnt gone to the combine.

Actually, the thing he does best is catch the football...and then run with it after he does. Now if the Jets had a tight end currently who could catch the football, half the mock drafts in the world wouldn't have Olsen coming to us. Hell, he's almost 6'6"..people that want a tall receiver in the red zone, well he's taller then any of them. At 255 he can also line up in the backfield and play h-back from time to time to give pennington some protection. He's not the prototypical blocking tight end and I doubt anybody is looking at him for that.

Matt Spaeth is a better prospect, and he's projected to the 5th round. (his only concern is injury related).

as much as greg olsen doesn't make our team that much better... let's face it... we are lacking explosive playmakers on the offensive side of the ball. i'd be happy to add a weapon like olsen, and wouldn't "vomit" on my desk if we picked him...

He isnt a deep threat, and injury problems throughout his college career. Why does everyone hate Olsen so much and make comments like this?

The problem is that he's part of that weak line. Sure he can catch, but I'm not sure about his blocking skills.

    That's pretty immature...

You would puke on your desk if we drafted a 6'6" 254 pound TE who ran a 4.51 forty?

His "weakness" is that he needs to work on his blocking, he had a weak team at Miami which is why his numbers weren't tremendous.

Everyone is freaking out about Olsen and it is really pissing me off...

If you just said "I don't think TE is a need" I would be fine with it...but this constant bashing of a player who is supposed to go somewhere between the 14th and 31st picks is really ridiculous.

Many scouts have said he has adequate blocking skills and should improve. I dont think you can blame a TE for shit poor play by the o-line. Were drafting Olsen to be a playmaker. This offense has very few playmakers. His blocking skills are average and can improve with time. Jeremy shockey was a guy who could not block too well out of college and has shown improvement.

Penny, I think you and me are the only people who saw Olsen actually play in college and realize he is a very good player. Blocking is his only knock. Any player who you take at 25 will have a knock on him. I agree w/ penny that Olsen isnt my first choice, but I wont be sulking if we take him. Miami's offense was horrible. O-line was bad, and Kyle Wright looked attrocious at times.
