Wow I didn't actually see that. I thought he was just holding it out to the side while he was trying to juke, which was bad enough (especially considering the situation - just fall down and get the first). That makes it worse. Actually I didn't see it cause I wasn't watching much of the second half...I thought at first this was the FIRST fumble, which was hideous enough because of the lack of situational knowledge.
He said it was reactionary, which I believe. In the presser after the game he said the guy got on him so quick and grabbed him, he had the ball against his side and once he grabbed his arm he just tried to switch it to the other arm to tuck it in. Terrible play but not a buttfumble.
That's the one thing that irks the shit out of me. When he's getting chased he keeps going backwards. Go sideways and lose less yardage. The kids got the legs to evade. Not sure why the constant backpedaling.
I love how we're distinguishing this play from "The Buttfumble" like it's an everyday play like a horsecollar tackle, or PI call. "Bro, no way is that a buttfumble - he's got to run into his own guy's ass before fumbling for it to be a valid buttfumble. On this one he just fumbled it off his own ass - two totally different plays Bro." It was a stupid fucking play and he needs to learn from it. Hopefully it doesn't become a defining moment for his career like Sanchez and the Buttfumble.
