I looked at every teams schedule and realistically came up with what their win-loss records will be. Here is what I think will happen this season with small details per team. American Football Conference AFC North Steelers 14-2*** Ravens 12-4* Bengals 8-8 Browns 6-10 Steelers are the best team in the NFL until proven otherwise. Will their running game hold them back from repeating? Or does Tom Brady have anything to say about that? Ravens are basically the same team for the past 10 years. Smash mouth running game and unbreakable defense. They do have Joe Flacco aka Shane Falco who's only getting better. Can they beat an elite team in the playoffs? the Bungals will try to prove that they aren't...the Bungals. Ocho Cinco guarentees playoffs. Response? He will return to form and Carson Palmer is back but the running game and top heavy division will hold them back from fulfilling OchoCinco's guarentee in the tough AFC. Can Carson Palmer revert back to top 5 QB form? Eric Mangini will have a rough 1st year for the Browns due to the lack of talent overall and not having "his" guys. Buying into his FBI system will be key. Does Mangini learn from previous stubborn mistakes? AFC East Patriots 13-3** Jets 7-9 Dolphins 7-9 Bills 6-10 Tom Brady is pissed off and throws 14 TDs to Moss while throwing over 30 himself. Not the best team in the league because their D is old forcing them to get into many shootouts. Will the defense hold their own? The Jets have a top 10 defense but zero experience at QB and will miss the playoffs. Like the New York Knicks, it's 2010 for them. Can the WRs step up their game to help Sanchez? The Dolphins come down to earth after their walk in the park 2009 schedule. Now they will face the toughest schedule in the league this year and Chad hasn't finished back to back 16 game seasons. Can Ronnie Brown's production match his amazing talents on the field? TO will hate living in Buffalo, deciding to break his "play nice in year 1 where ever you are" rule after realizing hes no longer a true #1 receiver anymore and alienates everyone in the locker room starting with Trent Edwards. Will the oline give Edwards enough time to get the ball to his dynamic duo? AFC West Chargers 11-5** Raiders 4-12 Chiefs 3-13 Broncos 3-13 LT has 1 more amazing year left in the tank. He regains his crown as best RB in the NFL. Merriman and Cromartie are healthy and also return to form. This team will be part of the top 3 contenders in the AFC battling in the playoffs to go to the superbowl along with the Patriots and Steelers. Will this be the year they finally put it all together? The Raiders, lead by undead Al, continue to fail because of they are the worst ran organization in ALL of sports this decade. Yes even worse than the Knicks during the Isiah days. Jarmarcus Russell takes steps forward in his progress but this team is far from ready to becoming a 500 ball club. Will Roger Goodell stop the madness in Oakland? Matt Cassell will either prove he's a good quarterback or he was good because of the Patriots. Either way theirs not alot of talent in Kansas anymore and they won't get very far. Can Pioli duplicate his previous magic in Kansas City? New HC Josh McDaniels has done more damage without coaching a game losing Cutler and having a soap opera continue with Brandon Marshall. Failed. Will Josh McDaniels be fired at the end of the season if he loses the players? AFC South Colts 11-5** Titans 10-6* Texans 9-7 Jaguars 6-10 Peyton Manning lost a majority of his coaching staff but good thing he is a coach himself. The D is still average at best but they will win the division. Can Joseph Addai and Donald Brown improve the running game? Losing Albert Haynesworth to the Redskins was as huge as he is. Kerry Collins is still the QB and will man the ship. Can they overcome the loss of Big Al? Texans have the best record ever in franchise history. Andre Johnson proves he is the best WR in the NFL with back to back All pro seasons. They will just miss the playoff and should be serious contenders in 2010. Will Matt Schaub stay healthy? Garrard will play better and MJD will not reach top 3 RB expectations though he will be very good. But the Jaguars are in a tough division and their could possibly be some hiring and firing in the coaching staff come this offseason. Is this Jack Del Rio's last shot? National Football Conference NFC North Vikings 12-4*** Bears 10-6 Packers 8-8 Lions 1-15 The Vikings acquisition of Brett Favre stabilizes what was their biggest weakness. They might become the best team in the NFL due to their super bowl caliber defense. Over the past 3 years, Minnesota has allowed an NFL record 71.5 ypg against the run. Oh yeah and they got some guy named Adrian Peterson. He's not bad either. Does Brett Favre have enough in the tank for 1 more superbowl run? Jay Cutler will miss Brandon Marshall but is getting a night and day improvement on defense. Playoff bound but they might just miss it. Expect them to reload the offense to give Cutler solid weapons going into 2010. Will Jay Cutler become a leader or continue his immature ways? Aaron Rodgers improves much in the clutch after going 0-7 in games decided in the 4th quarter. But the transition from 4-3 to 3-4 will be too much for the cheeseheads to contend. Will Aaron Rodgers take the next step in his development? For the Lions the only place to go from last year is up. Starting a rookie gunslinger at QB will not help their cause for multiple wins. They will beat the Rams and might get another win elsewhere because of Calvin Johnson and the emergence of future star RB Kevin Smith. Will the Lions have more than 1 win? NFC East Giants 11-5*? Cowboys 11-5*? Eagles 10-6 Redskins 8-8 Giants will have the best DL in the NFL. Teams will stack 8 in the box to stop Jacobs and dare Eli to beat them. Can he make his teammates better and become a consistent QB? The Cowboys locker room removed the #1 cancer in all of sports which is an improvement in itself. Their defense will continue to be sack hungry and lead them to the playoffs. Will they win a PO game for the first time since 96? Philly will be better than last year though they face a tougher 2009 schedule. They might sneak into the playoffs and it would be a shame if they didn't make it. Will the key to their team, Brian Westbrook, stay healthy? Albert Haynesworth is a huge improvement but it wont be enough playing in the toughest division in football. Will Clinton Portis be able to have a consistent healthy season or will he have a 2 faced season? NFC West Cardinals 10-6* 49ers 8-8 Seahawks 4-12 Rams 2-14 Cardinals play in the weakest division in the NFC and win the division title by default. Can't see them getting back to the NFC championship game let alone the super bowl. Can the defense build on their improvement from last year? The 49ers are getting better slowly but surely. Unfortunately they are still a year or 2 away. Frank Gore will have a monster season. Will Mike SIngletary show he was the right man for the job? Seahawks signed TJ Who's Your Momma but still have too many holes on there roster. Matt Hasselback will have a good year and Aaron Curry will win the rookie DPOY award. Is TJ a true #1 or did he have it easy playing across from OchoCinco? The Rams are in a rebuilding phase and wont contend for at least 2 years. Steven Jackson will see plenty 8 in the box defenses. Their aerial attack is far removed from "The Greatest Show on Turf" days. Will Steve Spagnuola improve this horrendous defense in year 1? NFC South Falcons 11-5*? Panthers 11-5*? Saints 6-10 Buccaneers 3-13 The Falcons are a team on the rise with an explosive offense with the addition of TE TOny Gonzalez but there defense might hold them back from SB contenders. How will Michael Turner's body respond to getting nearly 400 touches? Panthers bounce back but must make the most of 2009s opportunity because this might be the last year they have Peppers. Signing Jake to a big contract extension may be the worst move made under John Fox's watch. How will Delhomme respond after having a 6 TO game in a losing effort to the Cardinals? Drew Brees is a man amongst boys but the defense play like children. Saints announced Reggie Bush which cements his bust status. Amazing offense with miserable defense. Will Reggie Bush silence his critics and finally learn how to run the ball? Buccaneers have decided on Byron Leftwich at QB and are going through a transition on defense. They will be one of the worst teams in the NFL. Will Josh Freeman get his shot if Byron doesn't perform? Legend- *** Home Field Advantage throughout Playoffs ** Division Winner * Wild Card team *? Tie breaker
AFC North: Baltimore Ravens AFC East: New York Jets AFC West: Oakland Raiders AFC South: Indianapolis Colts AFC Wildcard 1: Pittsburgh Steelers AFC Wildcard 2: New England Patriots NFC North: Minnesota Vikings NFC East: New York Giants NFC West: Arizona Cardinals NFC South: Atlanta Falcons NFC Wildcard 1 : New Orleans Saints NFC Wildcard 2: Philadelphia Eagles All Bird Super Bowl - Baltimore Ravens vs. Atlanta Falcons
The Ravens aren't a dark horse team. They were a playoff team last season and a very popular offseason pick for the Super Bowl based on the preseason development of Flacco and Rice.
Mr. E you are giving Oakland the AFCW? ouch.... who are your 1 and 2 seeds? also where do you see us finishing up? the divisional game? AFCCG?
Oakland can win that division with 7 or 8 wins. That's how bad the AFC West is. I believe in the Raiders' defense... Jamarcus Russell is one of the worst quarterbacks that I have ever seen. I have a feeling that Cable will try to bench him, but Davis won't want to admit he's made a mistake. DHB was a horrible draft pick. They're getting absolutely nothing out of him... The Chargers would normally be my AFC West team, but the Jamal Williams injury destroys their defense. The Chiefs will have a top three pick in 2010. The Broncos are LUCKY to be 2-0...that won't last.
I don't want to get my hopes up with the Jets...making the playoffs is a real possibility though. That will be huge for Sanchez and Ryan - free agents will want to play for the Jets.
