According to ESPN, McCarreins and Dyson were released while Clarke was waived.
Can someone please explain the difference to me?

Dyson and McCarreins were flat out cut which lets them fall to free agency immediately. Clarke only has two years of experience in the NFL and therefore falls to the waiver wire meaning any team that wants him can now place a claim on him. The team with the highest claim value (worst record) will then be awarded him on their roster. If he goes through the designated period of time (I think it's a week) on the waiver wire without receiving a claim he then becomes a free agent.

Thanks, very helpful. Any idea on when the differentiation changes? 3rd year? 2nd year? certain contract level? anything?

A player with 4 seasons of experience will be released, any less and they're on the waiver wire.
