Every post I read these days seems to say, "we must take XXXX" or "I'll kill myself if we draft YYYY". To me, this seems rather myopic. Last time I checked, it was a 7 round draft and we should have anywhere from 9 to 11 picks. We could select any number of players in the first round (Young, Cutler, Williams, White, Furgeson, Hawk, etc) that will be fine additions to the team, especially if there are other strong picks to back it up. With 4 or 5 day one picks, we should be able to complement whichever selection we make in round 1 with some nice players. Unless we pull a complete Haight, Lagerman or Vick we should do just fine.

    4 or 5 day 1 picks?

While we MAY get a 3rd rounder through compensation, I wouldn't count on it. I definitely wouldn't count on 2 of them. A 3rd rounder is only given out in extreme cases.

I highly doubt we get anything over 4th round in comp. However if we do a trade down we could easily have 4 or 5 day one picks.

I feel the same way. Seeing how many great prospects there are, and how many holes the Jets need to fill, it'll be hard to disappoint me no matter who they pick.

He may be thinking of the picks Abe will bring in. As for getting a 3rd rounder, our best shot would be from McKenzie, but even then that might be unrealistic. But I think that at least a 4th rounder for KMac would be adequate and fair

I was thinking a pick for Abraham or a trade down in round 1. Plus a possible 3rd round compensation for Jordan. I think come draft day we will have 4 or possible 5 day one picks.

Lagerman was an excellent player..the only problem with the pick was that he woulds have been available later in the first down so if they were targeting him they should have traded down and then picked him.

Oh well, ANOTHER front office mistake.
