I want to know the percentage of people on the internet who actually paid for photoshop anyway. :)

I've been using (learning) the Gimp which has been around for I think 10 years. Very similar to PS from what I hear but not as sharp. But the cool thing is that I can use PS brushes. They have to be coverted or downloaded after being converted but still it's a graphic program and there's plenty of users that will happily help you out with the program in various forums. Lots of tutorials out there. You have to get used to the multiple window thing but eventually it becomes common nature.

    PROGRAM DOWNLOAD; http://www.gimp.org/

There's also a website which some of you might already know about for PS, The Gimp and I think other graphic programs, which is DeviantArt.http://www.deviantart.com/. There is a plethura of brushes to be downloaded there for free.

I used to use Corel Draw 10 at my last job and when they went out of business I was jonesen for a program to edit stuff. I'm not made of money so I searched the web for a freeware graphics program and came across the gimp. It has satisfied my cravings for now.

For those of you working with paint, it's worth downloading The Gimp.
Dont take my word for it. Have a look into this forum and see others work on sigs, wallpapers, etc. etc.; http://www.gimptalk.com/forum/board.php

Here's a book on how to use it; http://gimp-savvy.com/BOOK/
