Peter King just on the ticket says he thinks JETS are looking to trade back into round 2, if they can as they are not impressed with this years 1st rounders, but that there are 3-4 other teams in the same predicament. He says if the Jets stay at 25 - they would likely take Paul Pozlusney, however he may be taken early by the Bills. If Poz isnt there and the Jets cant trade back into round 2 they will take the best LB available. What do you guys think of this?

Great move but I agree that trading down won't be easy. After 15 the first rounders suck and belong in the second round anyway.

And I see Pozlusney going to NE anyway.

Hell no on poz...and I'm really starting to like spencer...he, blalock, or revis would be fine with me...or some kind of Tannenbaumagic where we drop to the end of the first and pick up an extra first for next year would be my first vote.

How the hell could we do that without giving up about 2 players as part of the deal? We are at 25, not 5.

That last one was wishful thinking, not reality homey

Well, it's not quite as far fetched as it seems. Most GMs consider the following years picks 1 round lower then they are. So a 1st next year is treated like a 2nd this year and so on. That's because nobody knows where that pick will be until the season is played. If you win the SB your pick is #32 so it may as well be a 2nd.

My wishful thinking for the draft:

Jets trade D-Rob to Pittsburgh for the 15 and take Alan Branch who has dropped there. Then they trade the 25 down to the 33 and get Anthony Spencer and a 4th round pick out of the deal. At 59 they take James Marten and at 63, against all the odds, Chris Houston is sitting there for them right where he belongs.

That's about as wet a dream as I can conjure about this draft right now. Oh yeah, Brooklyn Decker is serving me breakfast in bed as the draft starts...

A lot of mocks now show him in the second round. And Houston. Both going around 36-37.

I'd take it. Even if I had to lie there and watch the Jets take Olsen or Houston on the 25. At least I'd be screaming into a towel alongside a super model.

We would all take it and football would be the last thing we were thinking about.

If the Jets take someone like Spencer or Poz, what does that mean for Hobson, and the whole linebacking core? I'd rather trade up for a DE like Carriker or grap Harrell (If they can trade down and still get Harrell, that'd be cool too).

If they take a LB you would have to assume they have a deal in place to trade Hobson already. Hmmm..or Vilma.

Hobson wouldn't have to be traded. I believe this is his last year of his deal - and not at too much money. If you draft a guy like spencer you have him take most of his snaps as a pass rusher specialist and let hobson rotate in on running downs or even move him to the inside for some plays. Either way it would be silly to trade him as his flexibility/depth would be a big positive for the D.
