The Jets are playing hardball with teams looking to trade for Abe, and rightfully so. We WILL accept an offer come draft day, but why settle so far before that? The offers may become sweeter once Abe lowers his asking price (and more teams become involved). Our management is just showing that we won't just give Abe away (unlike KC getting herm). I like what the FO is doing, and don't be surprised to see the Broncos back in the bidding war when Abe lowers his asking price.

I have a bad feeling the jets are going to let Abe walk for next to nothing IMO getting anything less than a first is a ripoff for a player like Abe.

....or he just grabs our $8m this year and lowers his price next year. Why wouldn't he? He comes out way ahead plus he can "stick it to the man".

You are a true jets fan. Personally I'd rather keep Abe, let him be a lawrence taylor type linebacker. If we are going to turn him into new players then do as mangini said "players who play for the name of the team on the front of the jersey and not the name on the back"

Back to topic. I have a feeling that Abe isn't as marketable as we thought.

Abe exploring his value with other teams, if we can't get suitable return does the lack of interest from other teams maybe humble him to come back to a more reasonable long term contract from the Jets?

He doesn't want to be a LB. DEs make way more money, and Abraham is all about money. He said he didn't want to be an LB even 2-3 years ago, and cited money as the main reason.

It sounds like its more Abe playing hardball with other teams than us doing so. From all reports its Abe who seems to be pricing himself out of the market. The Jets seem to be doing very little except watching and waiting for Abe to get the message that he needs to lower his contract demands. Unfortunately for us the the list of teams needing a DE seems to be shrinking. Making it not only harder for us but harder for Abe to get the money he wants.

Atlantas second and third start to become more and more attractive as time goes on.
