I think the Jets are just being cautious with Ivory (at least I hope so) he'll probably play a little in the Detroit game.
I watched some highlights from the scrimmage and have to say I'm pretty excited about Powell. The guy has some moves, not sure if he was running against 1s or 2s but he looks shifty and quick. Saw a spin move and half back screen too.
I'd love to see our 7th round FB in Tommy Bohanon make the roster as our starting FB during his rookie season (have heard nice things about this kids game) but with the possibility of starting a rookie quarterback in Geno Smith, I'm leaning towards Lex Hilliard due to experience. I just don't like the sound of a rookie QB along with a rookie FB during pressure situations. At least in Hilliard he's had 4 training camps, 4 preseasons and has also played within 62 games (all but two games) since being drafted 5 years ago. I guess I take experience as a lead blocker over potential in a rookie such as Tommy. I also feel all of Ivory, Goodson, Powell and McKnight make the roster. Ivory/Goodson/Powel as our 3 headed RB's with McKnight being a player in which we'll line up all over the field ala KR/PR/Slot WR/RB/Special Teams (when going for a block) and may even see McKnight line up at CB from time to time. All in all I see all of Ivory, Goodson, Powell, McKnight and Hilliard making the team.
McKnight, will not get reps at running back. Enough already. If the guy makes the team he is a special teams player only. He has never proven trustworthy with the football.
i dont really know anything about bohanon, i dont recall him at wake but i do know i have absolutely no use for lex hilliard, he is just not a functional nfl fb. at rb i really have no idea at this point whats going to happen. i am scared of ivory, i have no faith in goodson, joe mcknight is about useless to me. i think powell is the one guy i think you can count on to come out and play week after week, i just dont think he is that good.
Had to leave out Goodson because I don't know what his future looks like at this point. Chris Ivory- Should be the starting RB barring further injury Bilal Powell- Does a little bit of everything and is a great 3rd down back Joe McKnight- Return ace, basically the only thing keeping him on the team John Griffin- Has big play potential, may be a Leon Washington type in the future which is pretty exciting EDIT: Also had Tommy Bohanon, clearly outplaying Lex Hilliard right now and we need a fullback on this team
can griffin do things in the return game too? or is he just explosive as a hb? i say that only because i would really like to see mcknight go away.

Well first you hope it's not serious. The kid lacks discipline but I don't think he's a bad dude.Needing oxygen to exit the field is a serious matter not be taken lightly. I'm not so sure the Jets won't let him get away w/ his inconsistencies solely for his return ability. Jets only need him for 5-6 plays a game under current circumstances. He's the best returner in the AFC anytime he takes the field. I'm not so sure Jets don't just roll w/ the punches & look the other way. Rex speaks highly of him anytime he's questioned in press conferences. They either like him to make the team or see him as trade bait.
Khalil Bell added to the mix. Need Goodson back ASAP Sounds like McKnight has some mental health issues. We cant trust a guy who doesnt even trust himself. He has shown a tendency to fumble kickoffs as well..... Im ready to cut ties with the kid.
This is one of teams weakest units. They sure missing Shone Green right now. Green & Ivory would be a nice 1-2 combo. Jets have to find a F.A. or training camp cut.
One of teams weakest units. There's Ivory, which we haven't seen yet & nobbody else. Jets should have kept Shonn Greene. Greene & Powell would have been a good combo. Much better than what they have now. Powell is just a good 3rd RB. Hopefully Jets can sign a training camp cut.
Greene was a good straight ahead back with so-so speed. Powell may not be the straight ahead runner Greene was but he's more versitile; pass blocking and receiving, two things that Greene does not excel in.
Goodson is the wild card in this group. He is the speed, change of pace and receiving threat. I'm somewhat impatiently waiting for the team to declare him a Jet yes or no. He might not be there for the first few games, but I want him on this team if he got his head on straight.
if speculation proves correct he'll show up in about a week. I hope thats true, he'd bring a lot of stability back to the RB corp with his on field presence alone.
I've been saying it for the longest time now. We have to hold on to Goodson. They know where he is, and if he is able to come back soon enough then the biggest mistake would be to let him go. He is going to do great things for this team if/when he plays.
