Well finally took the big plunge from LA to take the family to Metlife today. Angry and upset of the results is a massive understatement.

    1- THE GOOD.
There was none, zero nada, except for the experience of being there and the introduction of the players. Meeting absolutely great Jet fans at tail gates that deserve better. You know expectations are in the shitter when most of the top season ticket holders seats are sold to the opposing team reflecting zero confidence with no expectations of a win. Seems to me many season ticket holders are investors, not fans
    2- THE BAD.
Coaching - Horrific game planning on both sides of the ball.
You don’t disband your bread and butter running game because of a slow, poor start
    Justin passing game was dismal
Stopping the run. Really? Not even close
Receivers inability to hold on to the ball is way below standards, anyone standards. Who the hell is receiver number 2
No balls, no glory. Not going on fourth and very short while significantly behind shows zero confidence
Sauce completely faked by Allen on big run, tacky hold on a run, still weak tackling.
    3- THE UGLY
Clemons idiotic roughing the passer on third and very long was simply stupid and unacceptable. Killed all momentum.
This team did not looked prepared to me.
What ever happened to adjusting on the fly
Is it me or game calling is too predictable on both sides of the ball
Today the aggressive, tough team did not show up

But the Jets D held them to less points than the Ravens!!!

perhaps this belongs in the moral victory thread.

In reading the board, I think you guys are being too hard on the jets and the coaches. It was for sure a putrid, putrid performance in all aspects, no doubt. However, I don’t think it says much of anything about what you have in Glenn and anything about the rebuild. The jets simply don’t have the players right now to compete against one of the better teams the last 5 years. It’s season 1, week 2 of the regime. I’m not sure what really can be expected when Justin fields is the qb right now (who hasn’t been able to pass the ball his entire time in the league) and really no one to speak of on offense other than Wilson. The defense has a few pieces but the team is largely devoid of talent on both sides of the ball. Of course they’re going to get blown out by the better teams in the league, what do you honestly expect from this roster? I did think Glenn’s coaching decisions were extremely questionable, but it’s game 2 from him and he’s allowed to learn as well. You really can’t learn anything this year about the jets other than do they play hard? You can’t even ask them to play smart because bad players do not play smart. There’s a reason they’re bad to begin with. Give it time. Draft the qb and keep filling in pieces.

Why are we being to hard on the coaching? There is 0 game planning being done, the Jets might as well not have showed up today, than our coach preaches accountability and discipline after game one and makes a statement by cutting a fringe player who should of not been on the team anyways, how does the team respond? They come out totally flat and unprepared and commit 2 stupid pi penalty's on 3rd and long and roughing the passer, in the 1st quarter and a stupid fumble in the 1st quarter? They embarrased themselves at home and might as well not have showed up today. So what exactly did Glenn say to the team in the week before today? Because clearly they are just here to collect checks, do not respect him, and do not give a f about winning. Today was a direct reflection of coaching, no if's but's,maybes. I didn't care that the Jets lost today we knew deep down they were going to lose, its they didn't bother to show up and did the same old dumb shit once again!!! And that you blame the coach for.

This is why culture and accountability and discipline is all just fucking talk until we start seeing better play on the field.

Yes, the Bills are a better team, but we looked outclassed in every single facet today. We were not even close to competitive.

    It was brutal

I expected a loss, but was hoping we’d show up. We didn’t.

Clemons with a stupid penalty AGAIN…this guy does this all the time…looks like we need some more accountability.

Being a fan is an investment of time and, sometimes, money.

If I were a season ticket holder I would have gone to this game and been rewarded with all the stuff you wrote after the bold line. Outside of the tailgate it would have been a crappy experience, a crappy investment of time and money, and I’d still be annoyed about it today.

Right now the Jets are like someone’s weekend project car that they just can’t get to run right. They’ve been working on it for what seems like forever and while they’ve been able to get the engine to turn over every now and again, it hasn’t been driveable in decades. You’re a fan of that model and because there are only 32 in existence you’ve been following the rebuild closely, but the owner has proven to be incompetent and the car has fallen into neglect, making it harder and harder to care about it as much as you had in the past.

    RE: Car Update!

Hey everyone I removed some rust off the back right wheel well and evicted some rats that were living under the spare! I also spent $1000 on some state of the art tire shine!

Keep a lookout for my next update in February 2026!

This made me chuckle - I feel like the Jets are a Kickstarter project I made the mistake of backing 40 years ago - I am pretty sure they are never going to deliver but I am too invested to write it off entirely - you get the odd 'update' every April that makes you think "OK maybe we will see some improvement" but no real progress is ever made.

the problem is unless they land on a top tier QB I don't think it is possible for a coaching staff to rebuild a team in a meaningful way (at least not before they get fired and replaced) - you can improve a team through the draft and free agency but so can every other team - the only real difference maker is the quarterback as a good QB lifts the entire team.

Yea, that’s a good comparison as well.

Best to be able to laugh about it at this point.

Nice summary. It was a bad performance all around. It’s not the loosing, it’s how much outclassed and outplayed we were.

I thought going into this season that it would look closer to a tank season than a playoff contending one. It sure looks like my prediction may come true. I talked myself off the ledge last week because we lost to a "good" team but after the way the Steelers looked yesterday I am less sure about that.

The Jets went into this season with no answers at the WR2 position, a Defense that looked atrocious all of last year and a QB that certainly has plenty of questions about his consistency. Nobody should be super surprised the way things have played out so far.

I simply cannot get remotely excited about this team until they have a real answer at QB.

I didn't see the first game because I was out on the coast but heard Fields did some good things. This is the first game I watched, or attempted to watch (turned it off at half time.) I thought the Jets may have something in Fields, however, on the first pass play, the O line was great, Fields had protection and time, G. Wilson was open over the middle and he overthrows, going 3 and out, giving the Bills an opportunity to control the game which they promptly did. In the NFL, you have to complete that pass, no ifs ands or buts. Sorry, Fields is not the answer if he can't make that throw.

Thank goodness Fields only has one year on his contract guaranteed. He's out after this year barring some miracle turnaround. Upside is that we'll draft pretty high. Downside is that there's no one in the bldg. that can develop a young QB.

Keep him around so they can ease the rookie QB in slowly. Tired of the Jets having to force a rookie QB into starting right away because they have no credible veterans on the roster. But yeah, I'll be surprised if Fields is any kind of a long term answer.

It's a shame because he does have an arm and is a serious threat with his running ability.

Again, these players are not good, look at the roster. These players were good enough to make it to the nfl because they show flashes of talent but are bad because they’ve never been consistent. Thats who they are. The offense is literally Garrett Wilson and no one else. The defense is Q, sometimes his brother, and sometimes sauce. That’s it. All the rest of them have a history of showing flashes one week and disappearing or committing stupid penalties the next (Clemens). Yet when the same thing happens, you blame Glenn? I’m not sure what you think is supposed to happen this year. Glenn is supposed to do what, take a bunch of players who have never been consistently good their entire pro and amateur careers and make them that way when they’ve shown that’s not possible? Not even Belichick can do that and he’s been anointed as the greatest coach of all time. Expecting a first year coach to turn bad players who wouldn’t start on other teams into solid and consistent players is asking way too much. It doesn’t reflect on him that they are who they’ve been.

I don’t think anyone is surprised much by Fields’ performance yesterday. That’s who he is. Very inaccurate. Can’t see the field so he holds the ball. Can’t make the basic throws on time with the right placement that are required of the position. But a great runner. He is Zach Wilson with better legs. That’s it. That’s who he’s always been. That’s why he is already on his third team. Because he sucks. He will never be the answer.

Most of us knew it when we signed him.

We know he’s a bridge…we were hoping he’d be more like Week 1 guy than Week 2 guy, and hopefully he does better than yesterday, but odds are he won’t.

You know, there's a thought that just dropped into my brain and, while I'll voice it here, I have to believe I'm completely wrong.

What if the coaching staff DID game plan. What IF they had a very viable game plan and this organization simply doesn't have the horses to carry out said plan? I mean, seriously, Clemons is a GREAT example. Game plans are only that, plans. What if that plan was shot to shit the minute Clemons cost the team the 3rd down stop, went down by 10 and that flushed the plan down the shitter? Hey, I'm reaching here so work with me. :D:D:D

Seriously, though...when talking about this team you have to laugh or......
