As most everybody knows by now, I co-host a 100% commercial-free, no one makes a dime from it, Sports Talk radio show on Long Island. Last week, we had our Jets Draft Preview with Newsday's Jets beat reporter Erik Boland. Tonight at 10PM on LI's 90.3FM, we will have our Jets Draft Review with Erik. Like always, please post any questions that you might have, and we'll ask them. While we're not yet webcast, I'll get the audio to http://hosted.filefront.com/patchyfogg as soon as humanly possible. Thanks!
How does Rex Ryan reconcile the fact that he had been saying all along that he strongly believed that the Jets starting QB was already on the roster (ie Clemmens & Ratliff), even though the whole time he was pining for Sanchez? Might he lose the trust of the locker room? If he knew he wanted Sanchez at that time, he was essentially lying...
What are we going to do now for all the holes we have in our depth chart the only place we have quality depth is RB and TJ looks like he will get cut.
He is due a 2.8 million dollar bonus soon. If he don't start showing up to team activities I think he will.
So rather than trade the AFC leading rusher for something (anything)... You're saying he will be flat out cut?
What does he think about the whole "Ashley Spivey phenomenon" that is running rampant through the Bullshit forum? Is Ashley Spivey real or just an enigma? Would Chuck Norris kick Ashley Spivey's ass? Are they fake or real? Also * Does he feel as though the Jets are making the same poor decisions regarding the offensive line that we saw creep up during the Bradway regime, specifically fortifying the line through the draft? (Keep in mind that I'm not discounting anything we've done with Brick and Mangold). In years past, we've taken one guy per year through the draft, later in the 2nd day, someone we viewed as "developmental." To date, none of those late day picks has shown much in the way of potential (most aren't even on the squad anymore). With Faneca getting up there in age, are we doing enough? The team was extremely lucky last year that the line was as healthy as it was- I don't want to say it but I doubt that we'll have the same luck twice and we have to plan for the worst.
Now let's say we were willing to trade Kellen Clemens and a half a pack of gum...do you think we could net a used Chevy Blazer or the like?
I didn't know that, and I'm mostly everybody. No really, its my legal name. Can you ask Erik if he likes exercise, hiking, dancing, long walks on the beach and if he's looking for friends and possibly more?
What are the plans for the new RB Shonn Greene? is he expecting Greene to come in an see 10% of the carries? Is he just going to see the goal line carries? Or are we planning to bring him along slowly and just give him carries in garbage time early on? Also how real is the competition between Sanchez and Clemens going to be? Or will it be the competition where Sanchez will be given every oppurtunity to win it? Also does he feel we may be in the same situation San Diego was with Drew Brees and Phillip Rivers a few years ago? If that does become the case, how would he prefer to handle that situation with this being Clemens contract year....
Does he think one of Stucky or Clowney is ready to handle full time duties as the Jets #2 opposite of Cotchery? How do thier Games differ and who has the easly edge on the job?
"Erik, that's a good question...... We were fortunate to be in a position having 2 good football players, both very capable of leading this team at the quarterback position, and that was our intention heading into the 2009 season. As the draft began to unfold, an opportunity arose allowing us to select Mark, who we felt was one of the best players in this draft and we went for it. It's not a knock on Kellen or Ratty, who unfortunately had to be included in the compensation package... that kid's gonna be a hell of a football player, but a matter of getting who we felt was the best possible player at the time..... thanks....next?"
does spivey maintain that "fresh" feeling, and will it still be an open qb competition or is sanchez going to have to wait a year like a good amount of qb's do when they are rookies.
I think our line was the reason he was AFC leading rusher. And how many 31 year old RB's do you see traded?
Out of the undrafted free angents we have coming in, which do you see has the biggest potential to make the team and possibly start?
