The article says Javon Walker hasn't even practiced yet this TC. He must be looking real good riding the stationary.

Coming out of the draft, they were saying that this guy healed faster than anyone else. A STEAL in the seventh round. That's why he was taken ahead of Mario Urrutia and a bag of hospital soaps. The Raiders scouts were lucky enough to catch this one. They were hanging around the locker room smelling farts and they notice how quickly the guy could get taped up.

i hear he just applied for a job at I-Hop.

i'm waiting for the day a player get pushed out of bounds, runs into al davis, and kills him.

If Schillens was a starter and Javon was a starter and DHB was a starter...that's one too many starters.

Well since the Raiders have playmakers at every position on the depth chart, this shouldn't be that big of a deal.

He working with the trainers on a adjacent field. Hes doing everything he would be doing in practice- (obviously without the contact) Javon Walker biggest critics in the Oakland Media( thought he was done) have reversed their thoughts, and think he could be comeback player of the year(thats how good he looked ).

    – What went on in the workout area Sunday evening was more interesting than anything that was taking place on the field.

Wide receiver Javon Walker, who two days before talked talked with unbridled optimism about his health and claimed to be in the prime of his career, looked to be at least something approaching that as he put on a show with a member of the Raiders athletic training staff.

Walker ran at what looked to be full speed with an effortless glide. He ran short and intermediate patterns, at one point reaching back on a short crossing route and snatching a pass with his left hand without slowing down.

He ran patterns 25 to 30-yard downfield, reaching out and catching the ball at his highest point with good acceleration. Walker dropped exactly one pass that I saw during a drill in which he ran directly forward at the passer on a controlled run.

After the pass-catching was done, Walker was jumping over a series of obstacles set in his path with explosive leaps, showing no sign of a limp. He then jumped and twisted over each obstacle, a drill which would surely cause some pain to a defective knee.

Instead, Walker appeared buoyant as his session concluded, taking off on a run to join his teammates on the field for the end of practice.

When it comes to Walker, I’ve been one of the biggest skeptics since the moment he signed during free agency last year. Now I’m curious and cautiously optimistic.

If the Raiders suddenly have a physical veteran receiver who could get 50-plus catches, 800-plus yards and get in the end zone, it’s a huge bonus. And frankly, a bargain, considering he renegotiated his contact downward to $4.6 million over the next two years.

From free agent bust to Comeback Player of the Year?

Well when the WR in question is your biggest WR 6'4 225 4.37 with 43 inch vertical . (very good hands) Thats pretty hard to find someone to replace him.( Wrs with that dimensions and ability don't grow on treees)

First he a very big target for your QB to find, and second more important he was the Qb go to WR. (The QB had confidence he would make a play)

So instead of having one player you have great chemistry with (TE Zach miller) they now had two- Schilens and Miller. Makes it more difficult for a defense as you have two go to players, that Qb has extreme confidence in.

If Javon Walker healthy he can replace Schilens. Just rather not go into a season counting on Javon walker . Before the injury to schilens, anything you got out of Walker was gravy. (he could have really supprised) Now you need Javon Walker to produce.

You can't make a blanket statement like thaT. Whose to say you have to play with two Wr sets only. The 2002 raiders (number 1 offense in football) was a three wr set. Tim Brown, J Rice and Jerry Porter all were starters .

I agree with that. Also look at the 2004 Colts Offense when there starters were Brandon Stokley, Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wanye. Another example is the 99 rams with Issac Bruce, Az Hakim and Torry Holt

No thats a Jet fans favorite time. This will be the year Jets get a superbowl(40 plus years and counting) Rex Ryan while a very good Dc, hasn't shown he a very good headcoach. mark Sanchez while a pretty good prospect, only started one yesr in college) The sucess ratio with a Qb with that few starting experience in college is not that good. Becoming a sucessful pro Qb.

Etc . You get the point.

That's why I can relate to your plight. At least I'm aware of it. I will say that the last couple of years March has been pretty fun too, almost like August.

Im really tired of losing my excitement after August too. I really like whats going on in oakland right now. IF they can find away to fix that porous run defense(they looked worse than pre Jenkins Jet's run defense- that bad last night) This team is not that far off from competing. Can't get gashed on defense against the run like that, and expect to win too many games.

JMO They just have to use the personel better on defense to stop the run. No more undersized Des and have to find a better lb combination to hold up better against the run.
