now that Cobb has reupped with Green Bay I can't help but wonder if it changes our plans for Percey. Cobb was widely regarded as a better younger Harvin I thought even with the addition of Marshal that we might be players in the Cobb bidding.

Question is do we now keep Harvin which would make our WRs a down right scary . Gailey should be installing his own version of a spread offense so we can't have too many WRs. Harvins talents should be taylor made for this type of O... If he can stay healthy

No. Too expensive for a role player, especially considering the draft implications.

Even with the addition of Marshall we still need another WR. I'd love to find a way to keep Harvin.

I think you're right on both parts. He's not worth the 10 mil and I'd rather send Seatle a 6 instead of a 4.

I would like to see them cut Harvin and draft Dorsett from the U. There was a lot of talk around the combine that the Jets loved Dorsett, perfect replacement for Harvin

Harvin's not a true, every down WR. He's an extremely talented gadget player. He has to go to a team where the OC is going to really involve him in the gameplan and line him up all over the field. With the current state of the Jets, I think we could find an every down, cheaper WR elsewhere.

Would love to look at a guy like Beasley to go with Kerley and run the underneath stuff.

Also, this is fantasy/Madden land but kick the tires on Reggie Wayne and see if he's willing to be a #3 and play half a game (a pitch count). IMO he was the reason Andrew Luck had the rookie season that he did. Would love to see Geno be able to catch a break on mistakes and play on instead of going to the bench after his WR/TE (Sudfeld at GB anyone?) gives up on a play.

I'm hoping the Jets can get him to accept a lower salary now that they have leverage. I don't think it will happen but crazier things have happened.

We don't have leverage - if anything the signing of Cobb and potentially Maclin too will make Harvin one of the best available receivers on Tuesday. If anything, best case scenario is we can trade him for a sixth to Oakland.

We don't need him at 11mm. Too much money for a part time player when we have holes at CB, Safety and offensive line.

I love Dorsett, and also love Tyler Lockett. Lockett ran better than I thought he would at the combine, had great hands and has NFL bloodlines yet he is still low on draft boards.

Problem is Wayne wants to go to a contender and I don't see how we fit into that equation?

That's hilarious, with Decker, Marshall, and Kerley all under contract for a couple years there is no way the Jets would have signed Cobb or will keep Harvin. We may draft one high, but we won't be shelling out for another high priced receiver. Big money should go to the offensive line and the secondary, beyond that we could make a push for a Jerry Hughes or Brian Orakpo. Anyone else would be a middle to lower tier FA.

I'd like to see him lower his asking price and for us to keep him. It's not often you find a guy with his skillset. And I don't care if we have to give Seattle a 4th Round pick. Harvin is a big playmaker.

Maybe with the addition of Marshall, he might be willing to lower his asking price a little. Doubt it though

Even if they kept him around, there's not enough touches to go around and (currently) no QB to prevent the whole thing from becoming disfunctional. He's nice, but way too expensive for what his contributions would be.

Also, that fourth round pick could end up becoming a starting offensive lineman. Relatively speaking, that would do more for the overall offense than the situational contributions Harvin could make.

We gained leverage when we traded for Marshall.

Is this thread about Cobb or Harvin or just the idea of another receiver?

How? I don't follow. We traded for Marshall so yes we have less of a need for a WR. He is licking his chops to hit the open market because he knows Oakland just lost out on Randall Cobb and Harvin will be best WR on market assuming Maclin gets resigned. This sounds crazy even writing it but who knows - he may make more from Oakland than the $10.5mm

There's no leverage if he would rather be cut and choose his team rather than take a pay cut, so Marshall is irrelevant.

Fair enough, but it's possible that he was not willing to take a pay cut because he knew the Jets needed offensive play makers and had a ton of money. I'm sure he knows he's not going to get paid what his current contract is set to pay him on the open market. If he doesn't his agent does.

If the Jets are demanding a pay cut he may as well see if he can get that same amount on the free agent market and choose where he plays. It isn't as if the Jets were likely going to over pay him just to keep him and give up the 4 than the 6.

Harvin will be cut IMO regardless what happened with Cobb...

The only way we keep Harvin is if he restructures and we cut Kerley instead.

    Both not likely
