Wow difficult one that. I think that Cakes probably knows more about NCAA than Stattjeff22 , but Stattjeff22 knows a little more NFL than Cakes.
We originally tied 15-15. You can see that people who voted for the likes of SundayJack, winstonbiggs, Beamen, et al., went with statjeff22 in this run-off. This is good, though. As I wrote last year, I'd rather not win this award.
Don't feel that way , I think this is truley the best award here , and just to get nominated is an achievment. You both have an amazing amount of knowledge about the game. Its not over yet and will probably be alot closer at the end than it is now. Good luck to both
The reason I feel that way is because the winner of this award becomes a target. We've seen this in the past. For instance, look what became of Thunderbird Jet and JetsIn2004.
It has been cursed in the past your're right. Lets hope that whoever wins doesn't have the same treatment.
Out of everyone on the original list (myself included) stat seemed like he would be the LAST one to let an award like this go to his head, and start being a 'holier than thou' prick ala JI2004... No offense to you Cakes, at all, but that was part of my decision in the run-off. I can't justify why I think he's incapable of letting anything go to his head, but I just do...
Well, this is certainly a surprise. I want to thank all of you who voted for me (even you gator-lovers :wink. I've said several times before that there are many people here who possess more football knowledge than I (particularly technical football knowledge); as SydneyDon alluded to in his post in the original poll thread, this clearly is referring to perceptions about general knowledge much more than football knowledge, and I happily accept it in that spirit. As far as it being cursed, all I can do is continue to post as I always have where it seems that I can add some laughs or some food for thought. Anyone who takes this sort of thing seriously enough to make me a target over it really needs to examine their priorities in life. Oh, and LTS, I prefer "smarty pants" over "know-it-all," thank you.
I saw ThunderbirdJet get attacked unnecessarily around this time last year just because he won this award. As a result, he did not post much in 2007.
