Per Adam Schefter via Twitter I can't believe we would let our longest tenured player and someone who was so important for us last year on defense, sign at a division rival.
I love this signing. He can play DE on a 3 or 4 man front. He's been killing the Patriots for his whole career so I'm really excited to see him line up with Wilfork and Haynesworth. It was obvious that they needed DE help given the number of guys they worked out.
The Jets offered him a minimum contract knowing he has nothing left. I am sure you will try to pick his brain and then cut him too.
Definitely sucks. Would have easier to take with any other team, but he made some extra $$ (can't fault him for that) and he probably feels he has a better chance to win a ring.
By my count, the Pats now have 14 Defensive linemen on thier roster. "In a 4-3 set, the Patriots now have Ellis, Wilfork, Haynesworth, Mike Wright, Myron Pryor, Ron Brace, Brandon Deaderick, Darryl Richard, Kade Weston and Kyle Love to roll through at the tackle spots. Wright and Ellis can go to the 4-3 end spots where Jermaine Cunningham, Eric Wright, Marques Murrell and Rob Ninkovich have been mixing in." Ummm, isn't this a bit of overkill??
