Hey I want to be a wet blanket. Thought it would be fun to be a devils advocate...........

The Jets special teams was puke inducing today. Well except for Feely who was awesome....... I said WTF about 7 times. The coverage unit was just abyzmul today plain and simple.

Like Westhoff or not his unit has been pretty crappy since week 3. I just cant figure it out as he was supposed to be or known as the strongest link of this staff. It has to fall on him at some point.

This unit was by far the weakest link of the team and if it continues like it has, will cost the Jets a longer playoff run.

agreed. the coverage unit has never been a problem until this year. I have no idea what it is, maybe a tweaking of the rules. It, along with the run d, has to be worked on for next week.

Coverage unit has been bad the last 6 weeks or so, since after the Miami game. Before that, it was constantly a blanket. Add in those awful false starts and holding on the field goals which was, in the words of Owen Wilson, "Re-god-damn-diculous!"

But, to be fair, I think special teams cost the Bengals more than the Jets tonight.

    heh heh, abyzmal

Anyway, yeah coverage was horrible. There were missed tackles all over the place. I think Feely had a great game but some of his kicks were low or short so that didn't help much either.

It has sucked since they started sitting Murrell. Ahmad Carroll was also pretty good in coverage, but they released him. It's a shame because our coverage units used to be one of the rocks of the team.

I'm wondering how much the loss of Trusnik has hurt the ST unit; he was one of our best out there. And I have to think that having Wright and Smith especially more involved in the offense of late has left them more tired on ST. Usually those two were always the first guys there, but they've been slower recently.

Feely was doing double duty. So I think we can give him a pass on this, well at least I will. As a kicker Feely fits right in to the Ryan mentality. The guy actually makes tackles and such. I am sure this staff is happy with him.

I did forget the horrible penalties as well.

Special Teams scared the crap out of me today. I thought we were going to see Sanchez and the D rise to the occasion only to be undermined by the ST's. It could have been an absolute nightmare scenario. If we had lost by a FG after that double-false start debacle I would have curled up into a ball and died. PHEW!
