Why the fuck did we keep Izzo? I think some of the extra DBs are place holders for the other team's cuts we will be bringing in. This isn't the final roster yet.
It's also a game that some teams play... he may very well have been injured but how seriously nobody knows. This way they keep him, don't have to worry about somebody grabbing him off waivers. He'll have another year to learn the system and the best part is he doesn't make his entire salary (although he probably wasn't making that much) I learned this from a guy who got cut by the Pats (of all teams)... he also told me that if you play one game and then go on IR you get your full salary (which is why I was surprised nobody mentioned this with Merriman last year)
