Seriously, is anyone surprised by what we're seeing out on the field this year? I mean, really??

Coming into this season I have been probably the most pessimistic I've ever been about a Jets team with the possible exception of the Kotite years. The reason is that there was no reason to think that the team would be better than they were last year which was at best a mediocre team incapable of competing with the league's elite. Moreover, they decided to bring back a locker room cancer in Santonio Holmes, a bottom-10 QB in Sanchez and a leaky Offensive Line with little depth.

Make no mistake about it, the Jets are a BAD team this year. But what's worse is that they have no direction. They are not a team that is one or 2 players away. They are not a team that is rebuilding. They are a team that wants to think (and wants YOU to think!) they are much better than they actually are.

What this team needs is to clean house. Goodbye Bart Scott, goodbye Calvin Pace, goodbye Mark Sanchez and your whopping contract and please, for God's sake goodbye Tim Tebow! But don't stop there. The GM who built this mess clearly needs to go. I think that probably the HC and his Staff should go as well but let's leave that up to the new GM.

I know that every Jets fan has had it up to here with organizational instability and perpetual rebuilding but this is where we're at folks. Time to admit it.

I had high hopes coming into the season, I really felt like Sanchez was going to take a huge step forward and this defense was going to get it firing on all cylinders.

Even during the Buffalo game I was concerned how poorly the Jets did against the run. The Pitt game was just abysmal to sit through and Pitt isn't even good at all, they're worse than the Jets against the run.

With Revis out I'm clearly concerned but I'll wait for the season to play out before I start lamenting over it. Either way this needs to be fixed and soon:

17th in total rushing with 98 yards per game
    29th in yards per attempt
    21st in total defense
28th against the run - Jets are giving up 147 yards per game

Agreed that they need to start over. There is absolutely no direction in this organization at all.

Woody Johnson left it in the hands of Tannenbaum who is not a football personnel guy. He was brought in by Parcells as a capologist and his ability to massage the cap numbers has always been his forte with the Jets.

So you have no real football guy running this franchise and no strategic roadmap in place for where they want this program to be.

The Jets need to get rid of Tanny, Sanchize, all those old lineman and linebackers and start fresh. I'm neutral on the topic of Rex staying as part of the new turnover. Although you probably want a fresh start altogether with a new HC.

I understand the OP's point and frustration, but there are 13 games to play this season. You do what you normally do in regard to the roster from this point on. See who plays and belongs, and see who does not belong. There's nothing else to do.

Revis being out does not change the main focus on this season, which is whether to retain Sanchez or to look elsewhere. However badly the D is affected, the O needs to show they can score points. That is the main focus going forward, I think.

The D by comparison will be more about seeing how the DL rotation develops, and who if anyone can step up in the secondary. Revis being out does not change that the LB corps was likely heading for a major revamping next off season. So while we wait to see how that goes, we get to see whether Wilson can improve, who steps up if anyone does as the nickel back, and whether the young guys can really improve the DL rotation.

Watching the way Jets play is like taking a dump. Sometimes it works itself out. But sometimes, you need to give it a nice hard slimy push.

2-1 at the beginning of the season. We are obviously a team in disrepair.

Please take a breath and relax, they just played two of the best run defenses in the league Pit and Miami. I don't think Greene is the answer at RB but hopefully we will see more of Bilal Powell after this week.

They are implementing a new offense, it takes more than three weeks to get everyone on the same page, which is going to be difficult as Holmes is the only veteran.

That was a very good win yesterday, they have to clean some things up which I beleive they will. The one thing I don't want to see anymore is TT coming in for MS, it just kills any rhythm and momentum.

Give them till week eight and see where they are.

Seriously. Tony Kornholer, Cimini, and all the other talking heads can make up all the stats they want to pontificate on how bad the Jets are. I just want to see us win on Sunday so we can laugh at them.

I think the history of the NFL has shown that teams simply do not improve from game 3 to game 16, so the Jets have no chance of getting better. May as well just forfeit the season.

Of course there is a chance that they could improve and I really hope they do. I just can't see how. The only thing I can think of is that I have severely underestimated his ability. Let's hope he is more Eli Manning than Joey Harrington. Too bad he has no true playmakers to support him.

Well you figure if Hill catches a bomb instead of dropping it. Sanchez hits the one deep throw he misses. And Tone catches one extra ball he dropped, we suddenly have 10-14 extra points on the board.

The plays were there, the Jets just missed via either drops or bad throws. It's self destruction and the only good thing about it is that it can be fixable.

Absolutely, this team is the definition of winning ugly. Did you really think we would look like superstars on offense and defense? This team has got fight in it, we will find ways to win games. That style of play can warrant a 9-7 record.

The Jets are playing quite a few young, high draft picks on the defensive front. if those players get better, and you have to expect them to, the Jets will be fine.

expecting them to be Pro Bowlers right out the gate is unreasonable. sometimes it takes a few games or even a few years. but if they can improve this season as it goes along we will certainly be better come game 16 than we are today.

on the offense, we need those young receivers to get better. maybe they will, maybe they won't. we will have to watch the games to find out.

The Jets are 2-1 which extrapolates to 10-6 or 11-5, is that what you are trying to say? It's lost in the translation.

We all saw this coming in the preseason. The trends were there for anyone willing to see them for what they were. We knew the offense was a problem but were told over and over that the "Real" offense was being held back to keep teams from preparing for it. Well, we're 3 games in and the "Real" offense looks as efficient as the faux preseason offense. Our running game still sucks. Our Qb still makes awful throws at really bad times and our "secret weapon" is anything but.

There were those hoping that the Jets would simply "flip the switch" and turn into the Ground and Pound juggernaut that would grind down defenses all day long and win a lot of 17-14 borefests. That's not working out either is it.

We're 2-1 but things get decidedly harder over the next several games. Without Revis, the "Real" offense had better show up and prove that Rex wasn't just bluffing with all the intrigue and skullduggery. Perhaps Rex knew all along that our offense was a basket case and that was behind the secret practices, etc.

Point is, we all saw the signs. We all knew in the back of our minds that this team just wasn't that good no matter how many times Rex tried to bullshit everybody with his statement that "this might be the best Jet team he's had since his arrival".
