good riddance. he won the series because ron washington was even worse at managing his bullpen than he.

The guy was one of the best managers in the history of baseball. I can't say I'm shocked, but I'm a little surprised he announced it so soon.

No idea who will replace him and whether the rest of the staff will stay or go. I don't really think it affects Pujols too much. Either way, he'll have a new manager whether he leaves or stays.

    Sucks, but life goes on.........

never liked him. he won in spite of himself.

i think it effects pujols quite a bit, too. had he had the staff he has grown accustomed to playing and winning with, i think it was a boost to the cards chances. now i think it evens the playing field for everyone else.

I'm gonna report your post to the Kanadians that moderate TGG. I'll also start a trashtalking thread about you and then fail miserably. That'll show you.

There were plenty of times where I thought he out managed himself, but overall, you don't win that many games and 3 rings without being good. I can honestly say that I thought about climbing through the TV and choking him plenty of times. But 99% of the time, I was glad he was the Cards manager.

I suppose it does affect Pujols' signing some. If I were a betting man, I'd still say the odds of him staying in STL are better than him leaving.

I hope they sign Jose Oqeundo as the new manager. He's been there forever with LaRussa. I think it will provide continuity.

I'll add it to the collage of IATA reported posts.

We're turning all his reports into an artistic mural in the mod forum.

The Cubs and Theo just got very excited. One of the biggest things the Cardinals had going for them is that Pujols has never had another manager, and LaRussa protected him from any conflict or criticism for 11 years. A new manager doesn't care about the past, only what he can get from Pujols in the future.

I would still give the Cards the edge, but I think it's gone from 90/10 to 65/35.

I agree, Sign this beast! He is what Peterson thought he was!

Also, I hope the Big L enjoys a long retirement!
