http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sub/mockdraft.html Jets take Gholston at 6 and Hardy at 34 in the first two rounds. If this happens I just may wet myself with excitement. Edit:
Odd. I clicked on the link nad get McFadden gone at 4 to the raiders and Gholston at 6 to us. Here's the home page. Got to the mock off that. http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/
1. MIAMI DOLPHINS JAKE LONG OT | Michigan | Scouting Report This was one of the first places to have Chris Long going in the top spot and now it is probably one of the first to have Jake Long here as well. There is no question that the Dolphins would like to trade down but there may not be much of a market for #1 this year so if they get stuck and have to make the pick it will most likely be a Long, either Jake or Chris. Both are considered to be very safe choices here but I gave the ever so slight edge to Jake because offensive tackle is just a bigger need for Miami. The bottom line is that they already have some pass rushing outside linebackers but at this point Vernon Carey is the only starting-caliber offensive tackle on their roster. 2. ST. LOUIS RAMS CHRIS LONG DE | Virginia | Scouting Report It's beginning to look more and more like this will be a defensive end for the Rams. For a while there Jake Long looked like the obvious choice but even though he is still in the picture the signing of Jacob Bell to help shore up that offensive line probably makes it much less likely. The defensive line has been a problem area in St. Louis for a while now so after upgrading the interior with Adam Carriker and Clifton Ryan last year it might be time to look outside. Leonard Little is going to be 34-years-old next season and James Hall was cut so from a talent and need perspective there may not be a better fit than Chris Long, although if he's gone don't rule out Vernon Gholston. 3. ATLANTA FALCONS GLENN DORSEY DT | L.S.U. | Scouting Report This is the first time I haven't had a quarterback going to Atlanta in round one but it seems they might be content to land a Joe Flacco or Brian Brohm in round two. In fact with three 2nd rounders they could even move back up into round one. As bad as they are under center you could make the case that their deficiencies at offensive tackle and defensive tackle are just as glaring so with Jake Long off the board this comes down to Glenn Dorsey and Matt Ryan. Mike Smith has a defensive background and Tom Dimitroff comes from New England where they built their great defense by using #1 picks on Richard Seymour, Ty Warren and Vince Wilfork. Advantage Dorsey. 4. OAKLAND RAIDERS VERNON GHOLSTON DE | Ohio St. | Scouting Report It will be hard for Al Davis to pass on Darren McFadden because we all know how much he loves those rare athletes but Vernon Gholston is no slouch in his own right and he fills a bigger need in Oakland. Tommy Kelly is moving inside to help replace Warren Sapp which means there is a huge hole opposite Derrick Burgess at end so Gholston would be a perfect fit. As an added bonus he could also move to outside linebacker when they go to a 3-4 look and that versatility can't be underestimated. With that said McFadden is still very much in the picture (even though they re-signed Justin Fargas) and they could also take Glenn Dorsey and keep Kelly outside at end. 5. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS JEFF OTAH OT | Pittsburgh | Scouting Report Every NFL Draft has a big surprise or two and this could be it for 2008. Now nobody believes that Jeff Otah is the fifth best player in this draft, not even the Chiefs, but Levi Brown was not the fifth best player available last year either... Offensive line is easily Kansas City's greatest need and one way or another they are going to come out of round one with a tackle, the only questions are which one and where will they take him. If Jake Long is gone, which all indications are he will be, the Chiefs will try to trade down but word is the guy they would then be targeting is Otah, who would address their need for a physical, mauling right tackle better than Ryan Clady would. 6. NEW YORK JETS DARREN MCFADDEN RB | Arkansas | Scouting Report Running back is far from the Jets most glaring weakness but just like when Adrian Peterson fell into the Vikings laps a year ago he might be too good to pass up at this point. Thomas Jones is a solid starter but he didn't set the world on fire in his first season as a Jet so they could definitely use a playmaker on offense. McFadden drops this far due to a combination of team needs and some off-the-field concerns but there's no denying his talent and he could have the type of impact that Peterson did for someone. Vernon Gholston is the other option here assuming he doesn't go in the Top 5 but if McFadden is available he will probably be pretty
Don't know what to tell ya bud. Your getting completely different stuff than I am. Edit: Here's a note from the NFLDC forums.
for some reason, it seems as if the day its updated not everyone can see the new mock. I've had the problem as well. Doc, try refreshing the page over and over until it works.
Harvey 7th overall to the Patriots. Wow. Maybe he should be considered a bigger option if DMC and Gholston are gone...
he has devin thomas going twice. Once to the bills and once to the bucs. I assume one of them is malcolm kelly. I don't see the pats taking harvey over a CB. CB is a much bigger need and i don't fully see where harvey would fit in the 3-4.
This would be an awesome draft. 2 guys at positions of need with excellent potential! Also found it interesting that Groves and Dan Connor were still available by our #2. A McFadden, Groves or Connor draft, or even Dre Moore also real interesting. Can't wait until draft!
