110mil guaranteed for a receiver. What could go wrong?

It will be interesting to see if and when the WR salary bubble bursts - in a salary cap league, there are far too many very good receivers available to be worth paying this kind of money to great ones. CeeDee Lamb will get his money, but I'm not sure that Garrett Wilson will get these kinds of dollars. But what do I know.

Receiver is basically becoming a position where you should almost always take one and use a premium pick on one every 2 years or so if you can’t find premium gold in the mid-rounds.

I agree with you--KC shows you don't need a single great WR--and if you don't have a FQB what's the point? We'll see if McCarthy can even get Jefferson the ball in the first year or two.

I get both points but KC also has a top 5 pass catcher every year in Kelce.

I was thinking that about McCarthy though. I’m bias because I think he’s going to suck but what’s the point in going all in on an expensive receiver like that without a proven asset at QB.

I'm not expecting much from him either.... but maybe theyre hoping Jefferson will justify the selection....

If McCarthy isn't good, this could end very badly for Minnesota. Could easily see them as a last place team with a very disgruntled Jefferson in two years from now.

KC had Tyreek Hill in Mahomes' first season as a starter. I don't think that hurt his chances of greatness at all.

These players are idiots. I would get massively paid, but with something so ironclad that I could say yes and then take the cash and live a healthy life.

Invest wisely and fck the NFL.

I'm not even certain McCarthy could beat out Darnold. I'm really not sure what Minnesota was thinking in letting Cousins walk. A guy like McCarthy would certainly benefit from sitting behind Kirk for 2-3 years and then taking the reins. Time will tell.

I was listening to Pat Kirwan on Sirius and they were talking 95 receivers are going to be FA's next year. That's a lot of choice and quite a few are solid #1's. Jefferson is definitely one of the best in the league but I'm not sure I would have put this much into one WR. Especially if you aren't sure you have a QB that's going to be able to get him the ball. We'll see where Garrett Wilson lands if he can get lucky enough to have a full year of Rodgers. His re-sign-ability will absolutely hinge on it.

Sure. Just get the greatest qb of all time alone with the greatest TE of all time and yeah, you won’t need a WR.
