What do you guys think about Vilma coming back here? If we get Spags as head coach and he switches to a 4-3, Harris could move to strong side lb and there wouldn't be much bad blood cause mangini had him in the doghouse and was the driver that sent him packing.
Vilma would be a better MLB in a 4-3 then Harris I think and he would have familiarity with the team and is friends with guys like Ellis and Rhodes. the only bad thing would be losing the pick we get from the saints if they sign him but Id take Vilma in a 4-3 over a 2nd round pick.

Won't happen. NO has already said that re-signing him during the Off-Season is a priority,

Do not know why I am answering ........ but good god no. If NO re-signs him a 2nd is infinitely more valuable than a no-impact LB. You can find those easily in a draft. Shit the Jets roster is already loaded with them.

    No Impact?

You do realize that Vilma was the Jets leading tackler in a scheme that didn't even suit him. He's probably one of the better young LB's, and is especially suited for the 4-3. Of course this means we'd probably lose the production of Calvin Pace and David Harris, who are better suited for the 3-4. It wouldn't be good for the team to be switching to the 4-3, considering we're relatively new to the 3-4. The only two impact players you might have in a 4-3 Defense are J. Vilma and Vernon Gholston, and Gholston is a huge maybe.

    Long live Vilma!

Plus, I got a Vilma Fathead....worthless if he doesn't come back.

Not much of an impact. If Vilma was that good, why was NO god awful against the run again. He racks up ton of tackles on awful defenses, but is not a game changer. He can stay with the Saints for a long time for all I care. I'd rather have Harris even if we did switch to a 4-3. He was a very good 4-3 MLB at Michigan.

Exactly, thank you sir for being way more elegant than my drunk ass. Oh yea sign me up for less than a sack, 1.5 int and 1.5 FF a year out of a MLB with 6 bazillion tackles 8 yards down field.

He is about the 2nd most over-rated player ever on the Jets. He makes almost Z-E-R-O impactful plays. The only thing he was useful for was coverage. That is it. Harris in 1 1/2 years has more impact plays than Vilma has in his entire career and Harris was injured and basically crappy this year. So like I said 2nd rounder..... thank you sir may I have another.

If Vilma can help this team win then I say yes. Im a big fan of Vilma he was a team leader and a field general with a knowledge for the game. A smart player on and off the field.

I've always had hopes of him coming back.
    Why?

Because NO wil try and sign him after FA to avoid giving up a pick. Well, that basically means that we have a shot to sign him also.

Id sign Vilma in a heartbeat and forego the pick. Hes a proven player in this league.
