I think 3/5 of the O line being out changes things quite a bit. Obviously all eyes will be on the QBs. However, with 3/5 of the O line out, I think it would be a mistake to read much into, or draw conclusions from, the O's performance. We are simply not seing the Jets' offense tomorrow, unfortunately. If we are able to score any points in the first quarter--and more importantly keep our QBs from being hit--the thing I will take away from it is our depth on the O line is better than I sometimes fear. If they can't get the running and or passing game going, I won't be surprised or over-react, because again, it's not our starting personnel. Still, I'm anxious to see Greene and all the receivers. The defense will be without Ellis, Jenkins, and Revis, so we have to be cognizent of that as well (and I'm assuming Pace--he can't play in PS can he?). If nothing else, it will give us a sense of how our D might look in the event of a nightmare injury scenario in which we lose Revis and Jenks. Still, I'm really excited and anxious to see the schemes and performance of the D. I think we'll get a feel for defense's mindset no matter who is in there. I'll be watching Gholston closely as well as Rhoades, Scott, and Harris. I'm also one of the few people who LOVES the second half of an early PS game. Even though many of the players on the field won't even be on the team, I really enjoy getting a look at the longshots and see who impresses (last year I remember Cummings playing his ass off and basically came out of nowhere to make the team). A few times now I've heard Rex mention how "playing under the big lights" affects players. Some tighten up while others thrive on it and how it's a much better predictor of game performance than practice is. I think roster decisions will result for some of these guys--for better or worse -- as some excel and others eff up under the pressure. So, what are your looking closely at tomorrow?
i wanna see a fan find woody and punch him in the face. i want to see nobody get injured. that is first and foremost for preseason.
Ace and I are on the same page.....I want to see how Ryan changes the defensive looks....and get a glimpse of some of the different blitzes he plans on using. but most of all..... i want to see some progress from Gholston.
Whether Clemens really is that bad. If Gholston can do something productive. How Shonn Greene is. And Finally, how lito sheppard looks.
I don't and I don't expect to. Never give a sample in the preseason for obvious reasons. It will be vanilla defenses throughout preseason like always. What I'm looking for is efficiency from the QB's. Hopefully see some nice throws, a couple deep strikes would be cool. I'll be watching the DL closely as well, the trench battles will be interesting. We should be able to tell if Gholston has improved in any way.
Defense (and how many defensive TD's we get) OL backups for depth Sanchez in comparison to Clemens WR's Shonn Greene Lowery TE's behind Keller in run blocking and passing game
Well, I'll be on the train headed for Oakland, CA and unfortunately won't be able to watch it... but just found out that my brother-in-law can tape it for me - PHEW!! I'm definitely interested to see how the QB situation plays out and how the new defensive scheme looks, but the players I'm most excited to get a look at are V.G. and Shonn Greene.
Clemens is really that bad. Gholston will be productive for 2 plays top then he will be invisible again. Shonne Greene is awesome, he is going to be a huge asset for this team, see ya TJ. Lito is going to be BUSY, BUSY, BUSY. Go Jets!!!
- Sanchez to be able to read more than his 1st read and make a play happen. Show some pocket precense, make some throws on the run, etc. Just look like he has an actual future in this league. - The entire Defense. - Simmons, Brown, Bullock and the TE's. - The WR's - Gholston. Can we at least get a QB pressure?
Gholston and Green, as well as Clowney. And more importantly: Why the H*LL I just spent $450 plus on Directv to watch this team yet again for the 40th. straight year?!? Sigh................. time to go outside and hang up the flag! "There are now 4 Jets fans in Myrtle Beach SC!".
I don't expect to see anything that will get used extensively during the season, for me this is now all about 2nd and 3rd stringers trying to impress. Watch out for shady character with video cam in the stands  http://bleacherreport.com/articles/235536-jets-v-rams-things-i-will-be-looking-out-for-as-a-jets-fan
Worst cheerleading outfits ever? Hopefully we have a new wardrobe manager this season along with the new head coach. Flight Crew [/QUOTE]
I'm not exactly expecting a showcase of talent but I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the QB comp., the WRs and Gholston. I'm just pumped to see the Jets out there on the field again; as long as they don't suck balls, I'm happy.
