From what we have seen in TC it appears that its same 'ol Clemens different season, whilst the young gunslinger has shown glimpses of what he can do. Nail your colors to the mast, who do you think Ryan will name as the #1 QB?
I've flip flopped on this more times than John Kerry, but I'm going to give my final vote to Sanchez.
I'm going with Sanchez. Given what we've heard from camp thus far...he's making better reads and LESS mistakes than Clemens. The fact that this competition is even "remotely" close....should embarrass the hell out of Clemens.
My prediction is that Clemens will be given the starting job, then halfway through the season he'll get yanked out for Sanchez.
I'm not nailing colors to the mast as far as who I want to start, but I think, given the current circumstances, Clemens will be named starter for week one of the regular season.
in most situations, you want your rookie qb on the bench learning what he can off the field, but considering clemens isn't really experienced and that there is actually a qb competition between a 4 year player and a rookie, theres no reason not to play the rookie and let him learn on the field. rex says the qb who gives the team the best chance to win will play, and i can't see how that is clemens considering the amount of interceptions he throws. i was for clemens before we drafted sanchez, but i dont see him starting now considering the competition is so close and sanchez is obviously the future.
Clemens never really had a shot in the last few years. Feel bad for the guy. Sanchez will probably start..
^ This. ^ And unfortunately this. EDIT: I did vote Sanchez in the poll though, more on hope than belief.
One of the frequent excuses for Clemens this year...is that he's facing a Rex Ryan defense in camp. What about the previous 3 seasons of failure when he faced a "Bob Sutton" defense in TC?! I dunno...I supported Clemens for the majority of his time here.....but he should be the clear-cut winner of this competition given his experience in the system. just my .02
It's obvious the new CS loves Sanchez, having traded up to get him, and he's already looking as good as the veteran in camp. He will continue to improve every day. Meanwhile, how much better can Clemens get? (I voted Sanchez)
This decision was made the moment the Ravens clinched a playoff spot last year. But, if what Rex says is true, and the more impressive (I didn't say better) QB starts, then it's Sanchez again. He's flashed, Clemens has not.
it kinda sucks that 3/5 of the starting offensive line is missing tomorrow's game...it would have been nice to be able to give both QB's a fair evaluation with the full starting offense
And what about when he faces defenses that actually wear pads and tackle for real...starting with The Patriots...what then?
Going by what we've seen, Clemens got knocked out of the game and threw a pick-6 deep in our own end vs NE on his first series. Non bueno.
