Where do guys think we stand now?

Decker has not been playing like a 35mm man. He's a number two receiver.

Harvin - I can't even evaluate him given how dreadful the QB situation is. We probably lose leverage with him in negotiations given how terrible out qb situation has been. Why would he take less to play with us if he's going to suffer through 20 yard receiving games?

Kerley - I thought he was one of our undervalued players coming into the season. But he has regressed. He's not worth 4mm per year for a third WR option.

In summary, I think we need to get a Cooper or Coates outside who can really win battles and will be on a cheap rookie deal rather than tying up more $ in this position. But I don't think we are "set" at the position. What you think?

Though Cooper would certainly help, I think he's a luxury. We have bigger needs at Qb and OLine. If we sign some good guards and a vet Qb who we are comfortable starting AND we miss up on Mariota, I'd definitely get on the Cooper train though.

BPA and the first Offensive first round pick in nearly a decade.

I'd like to see what this group could do with a real QB and some decent coaching. That said I'd jump all over the opportunity to get a true number one if it presented itself.

Seems like the Jets are always choosing between a first round linemen in the trenches (offense and defense) or secondary player. Other than Sanchez and Keller they havent drafted an offensive skill player since 2001. Seems like a big reason why the offense sucks.

While its clear we don't have a #1 WR. I think we have enough talent to have a solid WR core with the running game we put on display lastnight. The problem as so many other have pointed out is that we have no QB and out oline isn't cutting it anymore.

The WR group as it stands right now is good enough to be good with a decent QB.

But can we count on Harvin being healthy for an entire season? He does down and you're right back to Decker being a shaky 1 and Kerley being a 2.

To me you absolutely draft Cooper if he's there. Out of all the guys that are going to go in the first 10 picks , he has the most attainable potential. We need to stop with the risky picks. Take the guy who's almost certain to be a stud.

Yeah you need to find the guy to throw him the ball but that answer doesnt lie in the draft to me.

I think we could get Harvin if picked up his 10 mill price tag but getting a FA isn't likely. If we don't draft Mariota, we are in a prime position for top WR.

Decker, Harvin, and Kerley all have talent. They can play. That's not a bad receiving core to move forward with. But our team is so inept offensively that nobody is put in a position to be successful.

    Receiver is not the problem.

When our starting QB can't hit the open man with 8-9 defenders stacked in the box you could have Jerry Rice, TO, and Chris Carter and it still won't solve the problem.

We need a QB that can look off receivers and hit the open man.

We need a RB that can catch the ball out of the backfield, pound the rock, and block for our QB.

We need offensive linemen that can stop the Bills and Dolphins from dancing all over our backfield.

Jets need to focus on QB, Offensive Line, and the Secondary.

I think even Harvin gets cut, so we can focus on the above.
I'd rather have that 4th round pick. might need picks to move up in draft for QB. And that 10M saved can be partially used on a vet QB, with the rest of our money and draft picks spent primarily on Oline and Secondary (and maybe even TE who can block and catch).

a stud WR would be great, but is a luxury at this point.

Lol, this team could have Jerry Rice Randy Moss an Don Maynard, with the garbage we have at QB it wouldn't matter plus throw Rex the idiot in the mix an our offense would be lethargic at best

If you keep Harvin, the WRs are good to go. Little low on depth but I think they're fine if Harvin stays. I would want more quality depth because of Harvin's injury history but I no longer think it's a weakness if we keep these 3 as our top guys.

I'm starting to get the feeling that Harvin won't be on the team next year, especially if my gut is right about Idzik being fired. He is probably going to want to be paid comparable if not more than Decker since he's making 10mm now. Given what he brings to the table, he's worth more than Kerley (who I believe is being overpaid but I don't set the market) but i don't think he is worth 7mm which could bring us a top guard in free agency.

Its hard to tell how good this WR core is without a real QB,on paper it sounds good Decker,Harvin,Kerley,Amaro even CJ was suppose to be a major player in the passing game.Maybe this is why we got Harvin for nothing,Decker is overrated but still a solid WR.A good QB could win with those guys especially if we add another peice at WR

We better draft Mariota and. spend the rest of our resources rebuilding this putrid OL, because as Hasty mentioned, those pass rushers on the Bills and Dolphins aren't going anywhere for the foreseeable future. No point in drafting a QB and getting him killed.

not capable of much. but a good WR without a QB or Oline isn't capable of much either.
10.5 mil of cap + a 4th round pick is a lot to keep Harvin with all our other priorities.
I don't see him taking a pay cut.
unless the new coach/OC felt he was a perfect fit for their offense, i would cut loose. we can get an avg WR for a fraction of that price.

in terms of Cooper, like you said, if Mariota is gone and there are no stud OT's on the board, we'd be hard pressed to pass on him as BPA.
    so it's possible..

the team just needs too many other critical pieces for me to consider WR the priority though.
