Assuming that Bush, Leinart, and Young go 1-2-3, who would you take at #4. Also, assume nobody wants to the spot in a trade down.
DeAngelo. What I dont understand is, coming into this season he was regarded as a surefire top 5 pick, and after yet another stellar season, his stock has actually dropped to 10-20. Our running game was blowing chunks this year, even when Martin was healthy and our oline too. Hawk is a good player but wouldnt isnt what you look for in a 3-4 IMO. Still torn on Cutler, that depends on Chad. If hes cut, than I change my vote to Cutler. If Chad stays, though, then I stay with Williams, and go QB next year. Besides, a good RB to hand the ball off too will make Penny all the more effective
Martin was never healthy this year except for the first game, and everything went to hell in a hand basket. #4 is way to early to take DeAngelo. WAY too early. Besides, I think Brian Calhoun is a better pro prospect, and he very well may be available in Round 2. Also, LenDale White is a better pro prospect as well. In fact, if any RB is going top 5 who isn't named Bush, it's White.
I have to go Cutler. New Coach, New Offense, we need to start fresh. Take Cutler, and address the RT position in free agency.
im going with culter. You cant build ur Franchise with a OT. gms always say u cant pass on a potential franchise qb
I'm not moving off of Ferguson. He was and still is the highest rated overall player available at any position (via Kiper) and happens to be at our #1 need position IMHO. Lord, how I wish we had an at least decent offensive line already, so we could use our top pick on a QB, RB, or any other position of luxury that would make everybody happy. Nobody wants to use that high of a pick on a lineman, there's no glory or flashiness to that kind of position. But the way I see it, this guy is perfect for us right now. A RB, QB, whatever skill position you can come up with would not stand a chance without a decent line blocking ahead of him. Fergusen is the foundation upon which the house will be built. Bricks and mortar aren't very desirable to contemplate, but without them, you can't even begin to build the rest.
Thats the worst part. Against the Chiefs (THE CHIEFS!!!!), when healthy, with healthy oline, how many rush yds did he have? 57!!! With a 2.9 yd avg!! As much as I love Martin, I think at this point it may be best to make him a backup. I think its ridiculous to have White rated above Williams. Most people who have White above Williams are basing their rankings off White Rose Bowl performance. I like White also, dont get me wrong, but between the two, there is not question that Williams is the better player. If I were GM, I would trade down to around 10, NOT because Williams isnt worth the 4th pick, but because certain teams will be willing to pay a pretty penny to trade up a draft a guy like Hawk, Mario Williams, or Ferguson.
Kiper  Our need is at RT, not LT. Ferg is a good player but that would be perhaps the smallest upgrade possible. Theres so much depth in this years draft in oline, that I think it would be a waste for a team in our situation to spend our #4 pick on a guy like Ferg
You can think it's ridiculous, and that's fine. Most scouts agree with me, though. It's not what he did on college, it's how he'll do in the pros. Many think LenDale White may be the best pro prospect at RB in this draft, and that includes Reggie Bush. And teh thing about depth is that every level deeper you get, the potential follows a downward curve. You MUST get value for your pick, especially that high in the first round. Ferguson supplies that value. Williams doesn't. At #15 he would be an excellent pick. At #4 he would be a terrible pick.
Of those three I would go with Ferguson, but lately I've been wavering on the whole picking an OL in the top 5 when we have no playmakers on offense and only a couple people to build around on defense. If the draft was today, I would want Mario Williams or Haloti Ngata (but that is likely to change as the offseason rolls by). Other people I have wanted at #4 included: D. Williams, V. Davis, J. Williams, A. Hawk and D. Ferguson.
in reailty i dont even think hawk is even being considerd at this point no way we take a lb @ #4. as far as im concern if the big 3 are gone. its D Brick vs Cutler
Ooops...didnt mean for the tone to sound so arrogant, but Im still sticking to what I said. And Ive never seen any scout rate White above Williams. White has better size and both have decent speed, but Williams is the more complete back. White ran behind a stud oline whereas Williams had no such luxury. You can make an argument either way...Williams IMO is the better player, but White has more potential. Regardless, if I was at 4 and couldnt trade down, Id go with Williams. BTW, just an item of interest...at least to me. At the combine today White weighed in at 238. He also said that against Texas he was up around 253 hmy: Wonder what his speed is at...early 4.6s is my best guess, which, at his size, is still pretty spectacular. IIRC Jordan ran a 4.62 at the combine....
A terrible pick  Like I said before, coming into this season he was regarded as a surefire top 5 pick. Now, after a very similar season to his 2004 campaign, hes dropped to 15??? Actually I remember there was some debate at the beginning of the year, if a team had to choose between Bush and Williams, who they should go with. Dunno why his stock has dropped so much. You must get value for your pick, agreed, but Ferg dosent really fill a hole...we have actual holes, we shouldnt waste picks on pseudoholes (I made that word up  ) IF we stay at 4, IMO its a tossup btwn Cutler and Williams, depending on what we do with Pennington
