You bring up Slaters article but fail to mention that Slater got his numbers from Overthecap.com

Yet according to you they are not reliable to get figures from. Why not look at OTC and tell me what they are missing, they already have Walford in there and still show $26M in space. OTC also has the $4.2M+ for Pryor so nothing missing there.

according to spotrac it's about 20.4mil left after you minus the dead money and rookies. they have 3 contracts not listed yet (rawls, ijalana, hewitt) but they have to make over 630k to make a difference. if they do, you sitll get to minus 630k from their number becuase the top 51

My original post said I got numbers from both OTC and Slater article, there are discrepancies. Both were not updated 100%, because a few players were not known(I listed those players in my previous posts)... so I went off of both reports and tallied from what was missing from each, but going off of Slater's starting cap balance of 89.8, because I didn't have it documented what OTC had our cap at before FA started.

Like the mocks. Agree we have major needs at G, (think Swenson could still be signed and long moved over) DE/OLB and D line.
Our D backfield is solid but would be so much better with a pass rush.

I hope this is a special teams/depth move. Bilal has consistently overproduced for his contract.

The Jets are positioning themselves to not over-draft a RB come April 27/28.

We have Crowell, Powell, McGuire, Rawls and Jeremy Langford under contract. All of them, aside from Powell, under 30. If Rawls or Langford do nothing, like they've done lately after both had pretty good rookie campaigns, then it costs little to nothing. If either of them performs well, it's a win for us.

I just find it hard to believe that Rawls will do much of anything here, granted the Seahawks line sucked but Seattle did all they could to keep him off the field and he only played due to injuries .

Fans definitely need to have zero or low expectations for Rawls and Langford. These guys both performed well for a handful of games as rookies and have done little since. If either emerges, it's a win. If not, you still have two more proven backs in Crowell and Powell and a third down back in McGuire. Rawls/Langford at this point should be deemed as nothing more than camp bodies/veteran injury insurance.

As a result of the jets signings today of Swanson and Hodges... I must have been way off in my previous posts of most of the jets money being spent. I consulted 2 sources and added in unknowns etc, but apparently something was wrong in my math, because I can't see the Jets spending their last cents on these 2 guys... so they have to had more money than I thought.

My apologies to the board... I'm new here and have no problem owning up to a mistake.
Cheers to all and... J-E-T-S !!!!!!

Lots of intricacies to the cap. This time of year even sport Trac and OTC are off. So many bodies coming and going. Sometimes a beat writer grabs a # that's not adjusted, Slater's original # for instance was prior to the adjustments for roll over of unused cap space. I believe he was at $89 mill and is still using that # without accounting for additional money.
We all make mistakes, lots of respect for admitting it!
Welcome to the board , enjoy!!!

No problem! It's hard to accurately track the spending, and I'm no accountant, so I don't even try. LOL

I feel confident that a number of the guys that they have signed either this offseason or last season that are on the roster now, won't be on the roster at the break of TC, so a lot of that money will be credited to the cap, and we will wind up with carry over.

In my first post in this thread responding to @Early 80's in this thread, I said after accounting for other signings, draft picks and practice squad they would probably still have $15M left. He was crying that they are pretty much tapped out.

He wasn't crying. He seems to be a stand-up guy. He admitted that he was wrong (like a man), which is more than I can say for a number of posters here. Get off his back.

Murrell ,isn't Zac Stacy also still on this roster and under contract ? also not to hijack the thread but I just hate our Linebackers , going into last year I thought they were weak and if possible right now they might be worse than they were then,,,,,back to our RB's
