What I learned at minicamp today: 1. Mark Sanchez is the clear starter 2. TJ Conley is the best punter we have 3. Eric Smith is unfortunately still a starter 4. Coples looks like the real deal 5. We appear to be set at WR 6. Joe McKnight is really fast 7. Mark Sanchez didn't like my "Nacho Average QB" t-shirt 8. Vlad Ducasse is the man
7. I made a t-shirt with a picture of Sanchez and that quote on it. I tried to get him to sign it, he read it and neither cracked a smile or signed the shirt. Not too happy with it, it seemed. 8. Vlad signed my hat with his big ugly smile.
Maybe he didn't understand it, haha. He actually refused to sign the shirt? or were you far away and just yelling at him?
1.) Why would you make a t-shirt with a derogatory comment on it against your own team? 2.) Why would you ask the person who you made the derogatory t-shirt for to sign it? 3.) Why would you expect the guy who was just insulted to actually go ahead and sign it?
I think Sanchez probably misunderstood like this guy did. I think there's a risk that Sanchez thought you were calling him an average quarterback, instead of the play on words of "Not Your Average Quarterback." Either that or he was still sore from going 1for 10.
You're right, Sanchez must have been upset about the compliment that the guy gave him by calling him an above average QB, and not the racist slur. That makes sense.
No, I meant I brushed it under the rug. Didn't really even think about it. I like nachos. So I have an immediate, positive association with the word "nacho." It's like "squirrel!"
1. Because I thought it was funny 2. Because I thought it was funny 3. I didn't "expect" him to sign it, I hoped he would Now 2 questions for you: 1. Who asked you? 2. Why are you here?
I'll give it to you that the guy's shirt is at least somewhat racist....but I don't think it qualifies as a "racist slur". Still pretty dumb.
The day I was there the OL coach rode him like a diaper telling him over and over lets go Vlad and showing him technique after technique.
I really have to give the Jets a lot of credit for doing the whole kids zone thing this year. My son was able to meet Sanchez and Tebow and both signed his mini helmet. It really gave the kids a peaceful place for them to meet the players, A+.
Ditto..... Perhaps Mark read it as "Mark's an average QB" and didn't feel worthy of signing it just yet? Try it again next year after Mark wins the SB!
I don't know that Sanchez is secure enough to find that shirt funny. Just saying. What's with all the hammy injuries? Strength and conditioning issue or pushing too early and too hard?
