I don't care if Sapp was smoking a joint walking up to the podium. He still should have been our pick. It doesn't matter now and I couldn't care less about our draft history but Warren Sapp should have been a Jet. He was a sure fire top 5 pick who apparently smoked some weed. At 9( I think) he was the no brainer decision..

    cool a "franchise kicker"

this guy rarely kicks off inside the 10 yard line. He's consistant with FG's up to about 40 yrds, I don't see anything great about him.

I'd rather have picked Miller last year and had the chance to sign either Venatieri or Vanderjerk this year.

The draft is all about hindsight. Round 1 picks don't have carte blanche in being the best talent in the NFL. For example Chrebet wasn't drafted and look how he turned out.Its luck of the draw. I grant you that every now and again you know when someone is going to be a good NFL calibre player , Bush?

Funny thing is , I'm quite upbeat about our chances in the draft , with 2 in the first and 2 in the 3rd rounds which should pick up some usefull rookies.
i just hope that Belichicks eye for talent has rubbed off on Mangini

"Holding, #72 offense...10 yards and repeat 1st down!"

That's how I can say Chris Ward had a dissapointing career! The guy was the NFL leader in holding penalties year after year...and he was so physically gifted.

If only he stayed off the cocaine and other drugs and booze, maybe he'd have done a better job?

I like this post. The past is the past. I must say though it was revealing to see our picks displayed like this, I wonder where we stand amongst our NFL brothers, I suspect we might be surprised by how well things have panned out for us.

One pick does not a draft make. To really judge a draft, we should be evaluating all the picks or at least 3 or 4 rounds.

Yeah, it's not that he was a rookie adjusting to a totally different football, or anything.

Whenever you think about the Jets terrible drafting remember this: we almost hired Mike Tice this offseason.

Nugent had a better rookie season than Vinatieri.

Prediction: Bryan Thomas will find a new lease on life with Mangini's new system. He will be the new Willie Mcginest. Look for him to be playing closer of his natural weight.

I wouldn't go that far , but I tend to agree that Thomas is/ will get better , especially if the coaching staff give him the confidence that he needs.

i really didnt mind the jolley trade ... i thought it was a good trade .. but the thing that bothered me is that jolley didnt even make it close as far as competing with baker. that was the only bust in the trade .. it made me feel like we shoulda gotten a better player than jolley .. like a woodson or something

I hope you are right. He has shown flashes of great talent. What game was it I think in the 2004 season he ran down a RB 50 yards from the LOS to save a TD. I believe this coaching staff will get the most out of him.

I would rate then Jets draft middle of the road. If you want to see real poor drafting look at the Bengals and how many total bust they have had drafting in the top of round 1 year after year.
