So they benched Jazz all game to avoid the lefty starter but bring him in for defense in the 8th (Rosario’s a better defender?) to make sure Chapman (lefty reliever) gets 2 lefties back to back in the biggest spot in the game. Also - Stanton has to put the ball in play there.
I'm not a Boone hater, but that was such a poorly managed game if they get swept he may get fired. Sports doesn't make be cranky anymore, but I'm fucking irritated as hell right now. That was such a poorly managed game and it effects their chances tomorrow by a lot.
Jazz hit .248 vs. lefties and .240 vs. righties this year. Kay just lit Boone up about the move to sit him.
So apparently the narrative from the "experts" this morning is that the pitcher who gave up ONE run was somehow better than the pitcher who gave up ZERO runs.
Rice has to be your undisputed first basemen next year right? The excessive pinch hitting across all teams is crazy. The Guardians pinch hit for their 2 and 4 hitters last night for the sake of a “matchup.” Their 2 hitter was the only guy with competitive at bats including a hit off Skubal. The Tigers pinch hit for their 5 hitter (HR/RBI leader) today.
Why would Boone stack two lefties behind Judge and not split them up with Stanton in between? Only thing I can think of is to try to force Judge into facing a lefty pitcher?
I don't understand what Boone is doing these past 2 days. I've never been a Boone hater, but he's the reason they are in this position more then the players
Boone proves once again he has no feel for the game. After the double play last inning I said Rodon is done. Couldn’t find the zone and got bailed out. Instead of feeling what’s going on in the game he just tried to ride his starter too long now.
He’s a terrible tactical manager. Over a 162 game season with the gazillion dollar payroll it’s not the end of the world. In a short series when your decisions count, he’s a fucking anchor.
Who doesn’t love Jazz man? Nitpicky but Wells has to take second on the throw home. It’s 5-3 Yanks if he does. Volpe’s single was hit soft enough.
Fundamentals are very bad. Again, over a long season with the payroll advantages the Yankees have, not a huge deal. In the playoffs where you need all the marginal advantages it comes back to bite you.
Not for anything either but I wouldn’t take Rice out for Goldschmidt with a one run lead. If Bednar gives up a run you have a useless singles hitter at best in the game instead of your best bat tonight.
