This guy's an idiot but he's right about how Brady talks about Mendoza, all but a lock he goes at 1 which is what most expected anyway. https://x.com/i/status/2007114844906914204
I didn't see anything special that he said. I mean yes, Mendoza is a consensus #1, and is rightfully so, and more than likely will be drafted by the Raiders, but Brady said he is a good leader, a winner, but did not give anything away there at all, just normal analysis, which he has to do when he has analyst hat on.
If anything, just so we can wear out "What choo talkin' 'bout Willis?!?!" a million times, when he "Plays like a Jet"....
I've never seen so many passes blocked. That seems to be a stressed thing now. Short QB's have a problem.
What do you think guys, this looks a forward pass: https://x.com/ProlineBC/status/2006805891371426293 They should have credited Dante with a passing TD here so that more Jets fans would feel better about this game when we get him!
Does Dillon Gabriel having so much success at Oregon concern you at all with Moore? He arguably put together slightly better numbers than Moore even. Gabriel does have some physical limitations related to height and arm strength that Moore doesn't but Oregon's program just seems exceptionally well designed for QBs to put up huge numbers. I'm getting PTSD from Fields having great numbers at Ohio State. How do we know most of Moore's success stems from himself rather than the system?
Yeah, I wouldn't pick Moore at 3. I really like Moore but need to see a full season where he dominates a la Mendoza. There's too much uncertainty there to use such an important pick on. When you've got the stable of explosive offensive skill talent that Oregon rolls out every year in an extremely QB friendly system, it's setup for success. The Jets need an impact guy with this pick. No moore projects (pun intended).
Which is why I am not looking at the numbers, but at actual performance and how it translates to NFL. Yes, 24 year old Gabriel posted similar numbers as 20 year old Moore, but is a prototypical great College QB, as you noted with limitation of height and arm strength, which is why he produced well College, but do not translate to NFL that well. His release time for Oregon was also a lot slower. In that regard Moore is actually more similar to Bo Nix than to Gabriel (Bo had 2.44, Moore 2.52, Gabriel 2,79). Bo put up better numbers of course but he was 3 years older. When he was two years older than Moore is now, he put up similar numbers. And who knows Moore might actually win the Championship. As far as PTSD, I am right there with you, but like I said before, I ignored things like processing and anticipation with Fields and Zach too for that matter. Moore is anti Fields. Processing and anticipation are top notch. Look at 7:00 timestamp here. Critical 4th down with game still just 3:0, goes through about 3 reads, maybe even 4, extremely quickly, and delivers a perfect ball. Fields was not doing things like that. Relative to other QBs, he processes faster and goes though multiple reads as much if not more every game. Plus has all the physical tools you need. But I look for processor/anticipation 1st, the things that were not great with Fields and Zach. Now, I do understand why Mendoza should go 1st as floor is high, and it is very important. And he probably will to the Raiders. But if Moore is there for us at #3 or even if we swap for #2, I am running to podium. It will be very interesting to see their rematch next Friday. I feel Moore has improved a lot since the 1st game, and it would be an excellent measuring stick. I will root for Oregon, because if they win the whole thing, I don't see Moore going back to school and we need both Moore and Mendoza to be there, so we can take one of them. If it's just Mendoza, he is going to the Raiders, and we are fucked.
Bo Nix had monster numbers there too and he looks legit. Herbert as well. Dillon Gabriel’s skills were never transferable to the NFL. He always hit his back foot and then hucked his entire body into 38 yard throws. There’s just nothing about his motion, body type, arm strength, etc. that looked like it’d work in the NFL. The Browns received horrible grades for taking them where he did. Moore has unbelievable NFL skills. He needs another year in college in my opinion, but he looks legitimate. The ball just rolls off Moore’s hand. It doesn’t look the same for Gabriel. https://x.com/hailmarysportss/status/1876504865255596197?s=20 https://x.com/Rob__Paul/status/2006789948549271868?s=20
could say the same thing about Mendoza. Rourke last year had nearly an identical stat line at Indiana
