I'd normally agree abt Holmes but I think he was trying, but the wet field and foot injury didn't help him. On one incomplete Pass he got on the ref bcuz of a possible Def interference, if he didn't Care he would have just ran back to the sidelines.
I can't believe people are killing Hill after this game. The fumble was definitely a costly mistake and there's no doubt he shouldn't have had the ball held out away from his body like that but... He's been our leading receiver through the first two games. He did have a couple of drops but he also got himself open on a number of plays where Geno just didn't see him, one that would have been an easy TD. People need to give this kid a little time to do his thing and sharpen his game. He already looks leagues better than he did toward the end of last year where he basically disappeared. If anything he's been one of the more improved players on the team - why all the griping?
Kerley was sorely missed. He's the most reliable of the receivers right now, good hands, good routes, and usually has at least 1 or 2 conversions on 3rd down a game. Hill still makes some rough mistakes, but at least he's getting more involved in the game so far this season. If we can eliminate the drops, and I think we can, then our WRs aren't that bad. We'll see. Holmes should only get better from here and Kerley returning will be good. Geno showed potential again. My non-Jets friends all agree he looked better than expected (obviously some bad rookie mistakes in the 4th Q though). Yet somehow to Jets fans, the rookie's performance in his second start, first on the road, with 3/4 days prep was a disaster. He made mistakes. All rookies do. Despite not scoring much, we did move the ball well on many drives. I hoped for more from Geno but he was not that bad. Give him more than 4 days of his first NFL season.
I don't think he had anywhere near as bad a game as Edmond Gates, but 1) He had the fumble 2) He came up short of a first down when he couldn't get away from Kyle Arrington. You just want to see your 6' 4" 215lb. WR make the play there. 3) It looked like he had a ball go through his hands in the 4th quarter which would've went for a first down. I also thought he didn't high-point the ball on a Geno pass from our own end zone. I think Hill was double-covered, maybe near the end of the 2nd quarter? That might be too harsh, but it looked to me like if he got his hands up for the ball he's got a shot to catch it over the smaller corners.
I'm an extremely positive Jets fan, and I don't see much potential in Stephen Hill. He might be the most unnatural receiver I've EVER seen.
